Site is misleading

I am copying information that I just sent to the administrators of the site. I joined less that two hours ago, and I want to closed my account already.

I just created this account a couple of hours ago, and I need to have you close it. the first issue is that when I was in the process of setting up the account there was a URL for an free e-book. I have not been able to find a connection to it. Also at the home page of the site, there are a large number of the URLs that show connections to many different headings. All of these take me to a free offer page that when I click on "No Thanks", it takes me to a "Thank you" page that has no way to get to the information that is requested. When I find someone that writes code that requires you to take advantage of things you don't want, I loose all of my confidence in their ability to be an effective resource. Also, when I tried to send a complaint to the site by using their contact us connection, it errored out.

Mike,
I'm so sorry you ran into trouble while registering. Here is the link to download the diabetic diet book. It's completely free.

http://www.diabeticconnect.com/diet-secrets

I understand your confusion about the links at the bottom of the home page. We have advertisers who bring us offers on various health-related products. But often those offers are on a limited time basis. So our links on the home page take you to a page that shows you all the current offers in our system. That collection of offers changes frequently.

We recognize that it isn't the greatest experience for visitors to the site. We are in the process right now of redesigning the home page and those links will not be on the new version.

Again, I'm sorry for your frustrating experience. I hope you stick around, because I think you'll find this is a very helpful community.

I just joined also....got calls from Liberty to enroll and receive new meter and I don't want this.
Please clean up this site....I feel it could be helpful to me.

John Crowley replied October 28, 2009 2:49 PM

Safe,
We do have advertisers like Liberty whose offers are presented during the registration process for anyone who is interested. There should have been a "No Thanks" link on that offer that allows you to skip past it and then no one would call you.

I'm very sorry if that was not clear. We truly work very hard to be clear on any advertising offer that you'll only get called if it's something YOU are interested in. Otherwise, if you're not interested, you can always click "No Thanks" and no one will call you.

Don't be so fast to judge. I getn frustrated over computer snafus and navigation, but I have NOT found any here. Hang in there and give it a chance. You won't be sorry, but you will be educated.

Hey my name is LoriAnne, I just found and joined this website a month or so ago. I can tell you from a personal stand point I had a trouble or two in the beginning trying to join but in my case I attributed it to my lack of computer knowledge. But once I overcame those obstacles, I am SO GLAD I found this website and joined. I've already made some good friends, got some good recipes, etc. There is so much more to this website that I haven't even discovered yet, really. Don't give up, I have been so depressed lately and this website has helped me (not completely) to feel better. It's a stress relief. Everyone on this website has the same problems in one form or another. If anyone will understand we ALL WILL understand. Once you get in you can add me as a friend if you would like. I go by LORIANNE. Welcome to our website.

Hope you are still here mike, I agree with you [and a couple others who posted on this thread] that this site has some problems but what site doesn't? Still, I like it here, and have made several friends, and have learned a several things I would not have had I not been here. All in all, what one gets out of an experience [both in real life and on the web] is often in direct proportion to the effort put in. I suspect you'll find that we're not so bad. [Wanna be my friend?]

Unfortunately, Susie, it seems that Mike is gone. If you look at the header again, he is now "Deleted User 62816" He never did come back here to engage any of us. Sadly, he just took his ball and went home. :-<
