I have never taken it but I do know that hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic an as you have discovered makes you pee. My concern is you mentioned you don't trust the doctor that prescribed it If possible I would find another doctor. You might drop a couple pounds but it is just water weight not fat.
Kuini_Lii replied October 28, 2009 8:17 PM thanks! the only reason I don't really trust the doctor is because she's new and she's a county doctor. I recently lost my privat insurance coverage and have been getting healthcare help through the county, the quality of care is, sadly, much lower than what I was recieving before =/ thank you for your help! Have a blessed day!
heman replied October 30, 2009 5:54 AM Last edited 22 days ago hey, since you said that you've lost ure insurance coverage, I thought Id tell you about this pharmacy from where I pick up my meds... It really helped me with my medical bills... Check out http://www.globalgenericpharmacy.com/banner.aspx?id=14090901
imsuzie2 replied October 31, 2009 9:29 AM I looked at the site Heman mentioned, and read over the FAQ page. The meds come from Canada and India. I don't know if I would want meds from India, and there does not seem to be a way to confirm they come from India. Heman, how long have you used this site? S2
heman replied November 2, 2009 5:34 AM Ive been getting my meds from there for almost 8 months or so...I havnt had any problem... The 1st time I came across the site, I called their call centre to find out details..They told me that all their meds come from reputed manufacturers and go through all the rigorous procedures to make sure the meds are safe and effective...
heman replied November 2, 2009 5:38 AM And if u see...one of the FAQS also has- "Where will my prescription medication ship from?

Another thing, be sure the doctor is prescribing potassium chloride or at least watching your electrolite levels. Hydrcholothiazide is a potassium-wasting diuretic and you can easily become hypokalemic. In other words, your body runs out of potassium which is essential for nerve impulses to reach the muscles from the brain. It is, however, a highly effective medication for blood pressure and very commonly used. |
Is anyone taking this medication? It's a blood pressure medication that I was prescribed recently. I was on Norvasc and got switched to this one. I am hesitant to take it because one of the side effects is "high blood sugar in diabetics." I am a Type 1 diabetic, and I don't really trust the doctor who prescribed it to me =/ Any help is much appreciated! Mahalo to everyone =)
Love and blessings,
Lii
