Another thing, be sure the doctor is prescribing potassium chloride or at least watching your electrolite levels. Hydrcholothiazide is a potassium-wasting diuretic and you can easily become hypokalemic. In other words, your body runs out of potassium which is essential for nerve impulses to reach the muscles from the brain. It is, however, a highly effective medication for blood pressure and very commonly used.

I have never taken it but I do know that hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic an as you have discovered makes you pee. My concern is you mentioned you don't trust the doctor that prescribed it If possible I would find another doctor. You might drop a couple pounds but it is just water weight not fat.

thanks! the only reason I don't really trust the doctor is because she's new and she's a county doctor. I recently lost my privat insurance coverage and have been getting healthcare help through the county, the quality of care is, sadly, much lower than what I was recieving before =/ thank you for your help! I looked at the site Heman mentioned, and read over the FAQ page. The meds come from Canada and India. I don't know if I would want meds from India, and there does not seem to be a way to confirm they come from India. Heman, how long have you used this site? S2
