Medicare paid for it and I did not have to pay anything! I still walk as much as I can but I cannot go far so this great new chair gives me freedom. I hope anyone that needs a chair can get one as easily as I did.

Thats great that you have a backup. Try to keep on walking as much and as long as you can. I thought of getting a scooter, but I dont want to come to rely on it yet.

Good for you Turtle. Yes, keep walking but use this for new found freedom to try out new things at your new environment.

Fabulous! Yes keep on walking as tolerated but oh boy this is great news cuz I know how hard walking can be at times and I dunno your circumstances but some people just have to have these things at times...great news!! Hugs! Sheila

I'm glad to hear you got chair, I got mine over a year ago and I love it. As you I try and walk around the house as much. Enjoy your chair. Dan

Turtle, Don't forget to watch for posted speed limits, and be careful of Sunny's paws while you learn to master your chair!!! Enjoy your ride. Hugs

You all are so special and funny. Yes, I walk more than use my chair right now. I use my chair to try and get into town. I might use it more in the winter when I have to travel to appts. It might be warmer that way cuz I can put a little blanket on my lap.

Turtle, perhaps we should 'tweek' it a little. You know, a short block V-8 with headers and a turbo charger. We can chop and drop the body with some fuzzy dice for the rear-view mirror. All joking aside, that's great news. Use it in good health.

I can't walk without the help of some one. I am an amputee. When I had a kidney transplant I was a left below the knee amputee. I had a stroke on my right side and lost all my muscle mass. It is 2 years later and finally learning how to walk with a cane ad help on my other side just to walk. Not a long distance I may add. Medicare denied me because I have use of my hands,,,Hows that..Unreal, I can't explain it..... Debe

Debe,
I am sorry to hear all you have gone thru. I do not know what to say. In fact, I am speechless because I feel so bad, Please feel free to email me if you want.

You'd think that if ANYONE could get an electric WC it would be someone like you. BUMMER!

Have you gone through someone like the folks advertised on TV and all over on the internet who say they can get you a power chair for little or no cost?

Elrond replied November 2, 2009 8:47 AM

jayabee, a former girlfriend of mine had multiple sclerosis and we tried to get her a scooter from a couple of those places. All we got was the old run-around. I'm not saying that it's impossible but we finally gave up.
