HI this is going to sound really strange but I am having a real problem getting accurate bs readings. I have 3 meters, one in my purse, one at home, and one back up after having my main one break (keep an extra on hand just incase you need it, had mine go out on holiday weekend and couldn't get a new one for 3 days) but my question is my bs has been going up and down even hit the floor one day and crashed into glass counter and broke a rib but that is beyond the point. My problem is after that incident my dr decided to drop my medication (i was taking 10 mg of glyburide 2 times a day I am now on 5 mg 2 times a day) but my bs reading are different on each meter..one was 99, one was 60..and one was 78..I did a control test on each one and made sure all were working right and they all are so what is the problem here..why am I getting such different reading on each one?? any ideas would be helpful.

they are three different meters and yes I tested one right after the other so all the same time and yes all were coded correctly. I did test solutions before i started the test to see about the readings. . I am only doing this so I can see what meter is actually the most correct one and use it so I know that I won't have anymore passing out spells like I did that really hurt and scared my husband now he won't let me drive until I get one to give me an accurate reading.

darlin October 16, 2009 at 8:39 pm0 LikesI am having the same problem; not on medication yet..but, my last 3 raedings(also 2x checked) were in the 80-90 range & I'd been eating, etc.. going to dr in the am & specialist next week..I don't get it

kdroberts October 16, 2009 at 8:00 pm0 LikesAre they the same meters or different types? Are they coded right? Are you taking your blood sugar at the same time with all the meters? Do you know that meters are considered accurate if the reading is within 20% of your actual blood sugar?

ptsparkle October 16, 2009 at 8:40 pm0 LikesI agree, make sure the coding is correcct, and if the meters are all the same brand and style, then test all three ay same time.. Did you run the test solution at the same time and get waymoff readings also?
