Darly, 121 is too high for a fasting number for a non diabetic person. Just my opinion.

Darly replied October 13, 2009 11:23 PM I have been taking BG levels w/meter. The Dr, has the results from it being documented from my therapist, and, from me,I wrote down numbers from week before seeing him. Many of my morning levels have been higher,or even much higher than 121. I can remember my last BG level 2 hrs, after meal was 213,on 10/06... @ at 12:30am that morning 10/06 I woke up feeling bad, thinking it was low,so I took level, the meter's alarm went off flashing "253" and the word ketone. I had eaten a regular size bag of m&m's @ 9:30-10pm. This did scare me! I have to add that when I went to bed my level was 110 @ 10:30p When I woke up it was down to 129 @ 9am on 10/06. I have not tested since then as I have no strips, the Doctor (new one for me) said he could not give me a script for strips until he diagnosed me, the insurance would not pay he said. Doctor was not in today either. I still get the feelings that it is either high or low,as my body reacts the same for both, so I do not know what it is. I hope this was not too confusing. I was at a friends for a few days, used her meter (same), on 10/03 my AM level was 136,2 hrs, post meal was 198. 10/04 AM level was 131, 2 hrs. post meal was 196...not always this high but usually higher than 140 post meals. Thank you for your reply!
Darly replied October 13, 2009 11:29 PM Last edited about 1 month ago I agree that the number is too high for a fasting number. Just don't know about this clinic I go to! Hopefully he will call with a script for strips as I do think that I need diabetic supplies since my fasting level went from 106 to 121 in 2 months.
jigsaw replied October 13, 2009 11:34 PM It's called a glucose tolerance test. It is a widely accepted test that is used by many doctors to determine if one is diabetic. There are other methods and ways that doctors use to determine if one is diabetic also.
Harlen replied October 14, 2009 12:36 AM I would get one asap just to know
Darly replied October 14, 2009 2:23 AM Thank you Harlen! The place I go,if you tell the Doctor you want something done they get upset, found that out w/last Doctor!...Thank you for your concern. I guess I will go with whatever he has to say,I give up at this point.

Last edited about 1 month ago Darly--I posted an article in the news & article section titled Testing for Diabetes type 2. You might find it helpful!!
Darly replied October 14, 2009 2:26 AM I read your article jigsaw,Thank you for telling me about it. I think I knew a lot of what was there, just having hard time with Doctors that's all I guess. Just hope I am not one to be misdiagnosed.
jigsaw replied October 14, 2009 11:25 AM I understand your concern. Just the fact that you are concerned, is reason to believe that you will not be easily mislead. As a matter of fact, I have a feeling that your circumstances will all fall into place!
Darly replied October 14, 2009 2:44 PM Thank you jigsaw! I think I need someone on my side right now. My therapist/NP was suppose to call me yesterday,or text me w/my results,as of now still has not. I know right now that my sugar must be high as I have the same feelings going on,and, even though I have my reading glasses on my eyes are still blurry. Thanks again for being so kind to me,and, having faith in my circumstances....Have a great day! God Bless!
Darly replied October 15, 2009 7:28 PM Okay, have no idea or clue as to what to think. My Doctor has yet to call me,my therapist/NP just texted me to say my sugar level was "121"...I then texted her back saying that is up from "105" 2 months ago right? Her only answer was "yup". I am just so tired of it all, I know there is something going on with my BS levels, which are too high esp. 2 hr. post meals. I guess all I can do now is forget about it all. I have no choice in the matter anymore. All of a sudden the therapist is being so unresponsive to me, I feel I have been let down tremendously by my therapist and my new Doctor!...I am now on my own, guessing that they think there is no problem with my BS's....I just feel so let down and depressed right now....Thank you for listening once again....Darlene*
Darly replied October 16, 2009 4:15 PM Just a note, I had a friend give me a few test strips she had left from her last months supply. Last evening I was feeling really sluggish, heart pounding, took BS and it was 99 (when it goes down to 99 or less I have the low feelings, don't know why, maybe because BS is usually so high after meals.) anyways, I had a yogurt as I could not eat much, 2-1/2 hrs. later my BS was 153...bedtime was 129. I even called the clinic yesterday, left a message about my Doctor writing me scripts for diabetic supplies, nothing yet. |
I just called the clinic where I have new Doctor. He had done blood tests, one was a fasting blood glucose, the person I talked to said it was normal, I asked her what the number was she said 121...my last fasting 2 months ago was 106, non-fasting one before that was 57,was told it was borderline or whatever they call it now....I have no idea if it is normal as she said or not,she said she would talk to my doctor...so it went from fasting of 106 2 months ago to fasting of 121 last week. I am so confused right now....Thanks for listening!

P.S. I may have asked this before but can one go from pre-diabetes to borderline or diabetes in 2 months time?
