Staying on Diet

I have type II diabetes and a non functioning pancreas, I also have hypertrygiceremia and hyperlipidemia. I have become an emotional eater and due to fat, salt, sugar and carb restrictions, have an extremely limited diet. I have 8 other chronic conditions and get frustrated with how poorly I feel. I am on antidepressants and it helps a lot but I still find myself eating more than I should and sometimes the foods I should avoid. I have a new doctor and see the educator every 2 months.I need to know if anyone else has these problems. By the way, I have been diabetic since 1989 after a particularly serious case of pancreatitis caused my tryglicerides in th 2500 range. I have had to be on prednisone and now am taking methotrexate injections for psoriatic arthritis which is severe.. I take Levemir and Novolog insulins.

Marty: Sounds as if you have a difficult life right now BUT you have come to right place for motivation. I would be having one heck of a "pity party" with all of your diagnoses. If I were you, I would attempt to tackle one thing at a time (of course, trying to watch everything at all times). You must take the methotrexate for the arthritis so watch your BS closely and record eating habits. If you are eating every 2-3 hours, it is really hard to be hungry enough to over eat. You can only deal with one day at a time. The doctor can always give you something for depression and you can report the "baby steps" to him on a regular basis. Try to think of the positive things you can do for yourself and always remember, you are a very special person. Good luck!

The baby steps and one at a time sound right on for starters. Be successful, then build on that. We all slip, but get back on track as fast as you can.
