PCOS has a large insulin resistance component and is thought to be a cause of diabetes if not correctly managed. |

I'm having PCOS tests done now, doesn't look good at the moment for me.
DanaLynn replied October 19, 2009 9:37 PM Just go t my results back. No cushings. Thank goodness. But I do have PolyC. Put me on Metforman. Bonus...it is for diabetes too. Let me know how your tests go.
Blue Moon replied October 24, 2009 10:47 PM Thanks for the support Dana. I have a false positive on the Cushings. So far they haven't found the tumor, and more tests are being done. I started taking Metformin again as of October 1st. Hope that your doing well with the medication. Take Care. :o)
DanaLynn replied October 25, 2009 3:07 AM Have they checked you for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome? The symptoms are so close to Cushings.
Blue Moon replied October 26, 2009 3:02 AM Last edited 24 days ago The metformin is working fine except it makes me sleepy if I don't eat enough carbs. I take one 500 mg 24 hour dose during dinner. If I take it by itself it gives me stomach craps and major gas. They did find a small pebble size mass on my thyroid and my OBGYN wants to discuss the cycial Cushings in better detail. It is their opinion that I don't have PCOS with the testing that was done.

I would also like to hear from anyone who has had any experience with the connection between diabetes and Cushings Syndrome. I have been on almost a year long journey trying get a diagnosis on Cushings (set backs b/c of steriod injections for arthritis)In the meantime I have been diagnosed with diabetes which we are trying to control with diet and exercise. Any information would be greatly appreciated. |

I was actually diagnosed with PCOS months ago, and just found out I have diabetes.

London replied November 9, 2009 12:18 AM I actually am not taking anything yet. I go back in 3 months. My sugars never run high but when I was diagnosed it was 282 and my A1C was 6.7 Every time I check it's normal. I felt ikky for the longest time and blamed it on my thyroid.
DanaLynn replied November 9, 2009 1:31 AM I went in too asking the doc to check my thyroid. I didn't even know what PCOS was. They put me on Metformin right away for the PCOS and double blessing...it's for diabetes too. My testing sugar was 350 something. It is never that high in real life.

I have a friend with diabetes that later developed Cushings (I think it is Cushings) and I am telling her about this. If that is what she has, I add her comments if I can't convince her to join the community. Thanks for the info and questions. |
Got my meter yesterday! I feel so much better having it handy. Still haven't been to the doctor's visit yet for Diabetes.
Drs are running tests for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and Cushing's Syndrome. Anyone else out there with these? No diagnosis yet....but lots and lots of tests going on. They say diabetes is a symptom of both of these. Any thoughts, information, discussion???
