My fiance recently quick smoking and took a medication to help him through it. It's called Chantix. It really help him and he has been smoke free since January :) I know you can beat this smoking thing. Stay strong :)
lipsie replied September 26, 2009 1:20 PM Thank you VERY much, I tried Chantix...it was working great but caused suicidal thoughts so had to stop it. It works for some great but not others. But so far I am doing it, and thank you for the encouragement Sheila! |

You can and WILL quit smoking because you know it is a must. I am sorry to hear you had a heart attack too. I had a mild stroke and did not know it until it was picked up later on a CAT Scan.

Hi my name is LoriAnne, I am new to this website. I used to smoke but have been quit 15+ years. I quit cold turkey, which was hard. I smoked the last one in the pack I had, and NEVER bought another or borrowed one either. Whether you choose my method or a medicine to stop, and I don't know you, but I know that everyone on this website is WORTH It. Whether is is dieting, quit smoking, etc. EVERYONE IS WORTH IT. JUST BECAUSE WE HAVE THESE OBSTACLES IN OUR LIVES, WE ARE ALL WORTH WHATEVER IT TAKES TO HELP US!!!!! JUST DON'T GIVE UP ! WE HAVE THESE OBSTACLES FOR A REASON. Thanks for listening and keep up the good work.
Tia Shirley replied September 29, 2009 1:36 AM I agree wholeheartedly that we are all worth it to do what it takes to make us healthier. I was just told that if I don't get my blood sugars down in a month that i have to start insulin. That nudging has given me the incentive to get on track. You can do it and we are behind you all the way |

My mother quit smoking two years ago after smoking for 55 years and she quit cold turkey. She found it quite easy and would have quit sooner had she known that. Keep up the good work with your weight loss. I'm sorry to hear of your break-up but it just might mean better things are in store for you... Take care, .Karen |

Hey Lipsie - girl I think you just gave the 26 lbs to me!!!!! I keep a gaining weight! It is great to hear all the good stuff! I am rooting for you. I quit smoking about 18 months ago. I did use the chantix for a while but it made me sick to the stomach which I think gave me negative thoughts about smoking!
lipsie replied September 28, 2009 11:59 PM Ugh, started smoking again but going try again..seeing my MD this week and going to see what else I can try...lol sorry about the extra pounds!! Hugs! Sheila
Mom and boys replied September 29, 2009 4:15 AM It's ok I haven't actually gained all 26 but at least a good 10-15. The Dr. will change my meds if I keep it up!

The not smoking is a great thing also. I did that about 4 years ago.. u can do it !!!!! Just keep thinking about yourself and don"t let anyone stand in your way. The more you take care of yourself the better u will feel and things will fall into place. I know it is hard with all u are going through but you are a strong girl and I have faith in u !!!! Hey all! I recently went to my doctors' and found out I lost 26 pounds in a month and ten days (since Ty n I split up) so I am excited about that. I did not address my breathing problem with him because they usually say something about the smoking. Three days later I am going to the hospital, have phenomena pretty damn bad at this point (Monday) So today as Friday I got out, still ill but MUCH better. Though they did a stress test in there right that made me quite sick. As the doctor discharged he tells me I had a heart attack sometime TOO...does not clarify when...BUT I follow up with my regular MD on the first so I will ask but he made things REAL clear about quitting smoking. So been out all day and have NOT smoked! YaY! Just looking for support here, advice about heart attacks...advice to quit smoking and continue loosing this weight. I am seeing a MD about a revision for Gastric Bypass but have to be smoke free for six month, I was already scheduled for a group the 7th but I am just ahead and need to stay this way. It feels great to breathe, LOL! Though, will this stop a revision I wonder cuz I have had a heart attack, does anyone know? Sheila
