Why does insulin burn while you are injecting it? Do I need to talk to my doctor about this?

i use insulin also an i keep the bottle in my desk once i take it out of the frig. also if i shoot almost 90` of the skin it burns, so now i look for a fatty area an shoot at 45` an it doesnt burn, but the big factor is to find some fat to shoot it into, also pinch the skin to make a ripple an shoot it into, that gives the insulin room to go into.. hope it helps for this is what i do twice a day…

I use both Novalog pen at room temp, and Lantus injection kept in the refrigerator. I do this because I accidently took the wrong insulin & had to go the hospital!
I pinch the flesh and find that it only burns if I inject too fast. I go straight in, and the temp doesn't matter. Good luck everybody. Hope this helps. -

I do pinch the skin when I give myself a shot. Maybe, I just need to leave it out of the refrigerator.

when you open or use a bottle leave it out, an at room temp, an before you use a new one leave it out overnite before u use it…cold insulin does not feel good. also shake the bottle before you take any out unless its the clear one…which is a quick acting one..

By the way you should not shake the insulin you should roll it between your 2 hands

Lantus can sting because the ph is different than what you body's is they make it this way so it will work in your system and be slow acting. That is also why a lot of people say's it stings even at room temperature

I use the Lantus Solo pen and once I start using it, it doesn't need to be refrigerated and then pen must be used within 28 and then thrown away. It doesn't burn me at all and I take 60 units at bedtime.

I use the Lantus pen and have the burning also. I thought it was from the alcohol pad I clean my tummy with. After a few minutes it stop burning.

I do the insulin when it is cold. I skip around on places to give it. The pharmacist told me it was a good size needle since I take so much…58u-60u at one time.

I will have to try it at room temp. I do take 58u-60u of Lantus at bedtime…so it is a large dosage.

That size dose of cold lantus will burn. Once you start using a vial or pen it has the same lifespan in the fridge as it does out so you might as well leave it out. Unused vials or pens should be kept refrigerated though.

The solution it's suspended in can burn when injecting, especially if you are injecting large amounts. One way to help is try longer needles.

I also have the burning when I inject Lantus ONLY once in a while. I just thought maybe it was when I hit a vain, I give my shots in the belly , also use it room temp.

I have been lucky for the shots don't often hurt, but when they do, wow what pain. I have wondered if I am hitting a nerve? I am obese so I have plenty of fat to inject into…
