Welcome. When I was first diagnosed as a type 2 I had a terrible time. Then it was explained to me that you need to go through all the steps of grieving before you can begin to accept you diabetes. It has to be extra hard to be a teen and be straddled with diabetes because it really does cramp your style. I know that school has started again but check with your doctor to see if there are diabetic camps for teens or support groups for teens because being with peers that know what you are going through is very helpful. Check out the Paul Newman Hole-in-the-Wall-Gang organization because I know they sometimes have weekend camps for diabetics and could help. Best of luck trying to adjust to being a diabetic and try to keep your chin up. Many of us are cheering for you.

Welcome! This is a wonderful group of people who will assist you with good advice on where to get answers and be there when you need someone with whom to talk, or just have listen. We all struggle with having to deal with the diabetes. Good luck and again, welcome. |

Sarguillo replied September 9, 2009 11:38 PM FYI, alot of us have been down about this and many of us have suffered and some do suffer from depression about diabetes.
Dietbeeties replied September 12, 2009 2:35 PM o my goodness Sarg!!! I just watched all 5 videos of John and I cried so hard! I saw a little bit of myself in him, there are times when I get depressed and I related to that, but I still have to do what I need to do to stay alive! Anytime I feel like I am going down a bad path, I am going to remember John and watched that intervention. I am so glad he is doing better now. It was different seeing it from the outside views. THanks so much for posting, he is a huge motivator for me now! |

I am a newbie also, but I feel very much at home with this group and I think you will also. We know how you feel and if you need to vent, your "family" here understands. Take it one day at a time. |
