Hi Ladies,

I was diagnosed with Type 2 in late May. Since that time I have lost 15 pounds. I have struggled with weight most of my life and I still have a way to go until I am at an ideal weight. Here is what I do. I walk 2 miles a day. I get off the train a couple of stops before my office in the morning and I do it again in the evening. It's VERY hard to find time to exercise when you are working full time and also have a household to take care of. I also eat NO sugar and I limit my intake of carbs and only eat salads for lunch. I have taken a bit of a drastic stance but am very pleased with the results. Also, Metformin the medication I am on also has played a part in the weight loss, I'm just not as hungry as I used to be. Exercise really works. Good luck to the both of you..and I am here if you need some support...Enjoy the July 4th weekend!

I have been put on a 45 carb per meal diet. I have lost 11 pounds so far. It is hard, I still weigh 227 pounds. It takes alot of work and consistenty. Good luck. Consult a dietician so you can be on a diet right for you. Leigh

Hi! I too have a big belly and it seemed the more I tried to lose weight the more I gained. Now I am looking at two things...one is taking Actos which is known to make weight loss difficult. And two, I have eliminated all aspartame from my diet. It seems to be working and I am slowly losing weight and finding increased energy level that encourages me to get out and walk. Good luck, you are not alone!

Thanks for the tips. I too have a belly that keeps going up and down. It seems I only gain weight in the stomach.

I was also told a good rule of thumb was no more than a 45 carb meal at a time. Good thought.

45 carbs? I was told about 22 carbs per meal in order to lose weight and it maintains a balance for it also. That really seems like alot to me--but I know its different for everyone.

I have the same problem, however, I did notice when I did a lot of walking it would go down, I failed to keep it up. Just watch what you eat and move around a lot. I did start the nutrisystem for a bit and it did help. Now I can do it on my own it is hard, but we all know it took time to put it on---you can do it, 30 minutes a day is all you need. Good luck I know you can do it

Walking always helped me too, But early in the morning and in the evening are the only times I can walk as I work full time and it's dark at that time the majority of the year. I never even walked this summer when I could of because I knew in the fall I would stop anyway because it gets dark so early. I've looked for people to walk with, no luck and there are no malls close by or lighted tracks. But it does work the best.

I also have a big belly(look like I am pregnant) I have talked to my dr and the only thing he says is lose weight That is easier said than done. HE does not try to tell me how many carbs I can have or anything else. And he is the best I can afford . And believe me he is not one of the best

I'm 49 and i have found at this age it's very hard to lose, but we all need to walk when we can that does help.
It's also hard to lose weight we you can't get out much, i take care of my sick husband, and i walk when i can.

I'm a member of the "big belly club" as well. Walking helps but without a walking partner it can be hard to keep it up. I suggest we start a walking club (lol). Everyone log in how many miles a week you walk and we can support each other in our efforts. What do you think about this? I have three dogs I take with me but lately its been raining so much I've not gotten in a lot of walking either. No excuses, I have a treadmill! This gets me motivated thou. Thanks.
