what is the best meter to get to check your blood sugar?

    The one that costs you the least amount of money. Seriously though, there is really not a whole lot of difference between any of the meters other than insurance coverage and functions the meters perform. If you just want to test your blood sugar, go with the cheapest option, either the one covered under insurance or the cheapest cash payment ones.

    I should note that a number of meters were just flagged by the FDA for giving (fatally) inaccurate results. Accu-Chek and Freestyle meters are the major ones.     I have used freestyle in the past. But I have found that I like the meters from One Touch better. Most insurances seem to cover the One Touch supplies too. I have received my meters from One Touch for free.

    my dr. wrote precription for 300 at a time i pay 12.00 thata every 30 days, that cant be beat, i have1200 test stips now, ,so that way i stay ahead, i use one touch, ultra and mini, hope this help if you have insurance also i got my frre also thru one touch

    i think they are all the same i woul check out the prices of test strip an get the one that uses the lowest price test strips because if you have to bye the strip it can run into being quite expensive. i use one step mini and one step ultra 2 the test strips are $99.oo for for bottles. i order mine on line it cost 25 for 3 months supply verses the drug store chargein me a co pay of $30 for a box of 4. there are 25 in a bottle. hope this helps.

    i love one touch,they have the lowest co-payment with insurance
