I also have Menieres Disease and have lost my balance and hearing. this makes exercise difficult and now combined with a rotator cuff tear and increased neuropathy pain it just plain hurts to move. I have difficulty in preparing meals and standing long enough to fix anything. I truly believe it is the sedentary life style I have that makes it hard to loose the weight. I am on Lantus which of course causes weight gain but did get on the new Januvia. Other wise all the previous meds and insulins had wt gain side effects. any suggestions?? i am not sure I want lap band as it is the only surgery I could do what with the poor healing and the maliginant hypertension I get after anesthsia.

I can relate to you, somewhat. I don't share you illnesses, but I just had my 3rd spinal fusion. With the vertabrae's in my neck pressing against the spinal cord, and shutting nerves off, it left me walkng off balance. Up until surgery, I was walking as if I was a ball, in an old fashion Pinball Machine. Bouncing off the walls, falling sideways, walking like I had a few too many! The dr. referred to it as, "Boat Legs". After my incisions heal, I will again start… Aquatic Therapy"..pool therapy. This has been a god send for me, for many years! In the pool, movement in the water, is as if, you are perfectly fine. You can move like you can't on land! Maybe check into this, it may help. And it does bring the weight off!!! I can swear to that one.! Good Luck!!! Please keep us posted.

I am sorry to hear the problelms you are having. Wondered if you have tried vestibular rehab for the loss of balance. I had an acoustic neuroma ( tumor on balance/ hearing nerve in the brain ). Had gamma knife surgery for it ( radiation ). In the process I had lost my balance and my hearing. Went to vestibular rehab for 6 months. It was a god send for me. Every now and then my balance gets messed up but at rehab they taught me some tricks I can do on my own to try and get my balance back. Most times it works. For my hearing, I did loose it totally in my right ear and nothing they can do for me. I understand how frustrating the loss of balance can be ( very dibilitating ) and just wondered if this is something that could maybe help you.

    My thoughts are with you.

I don't have any of your conditions but I can understand
how you feel. I am overweight and working hard to lose it.
I take170 units of insulin Am and Pm and feelmy weight gain is due to insulin. I pray you have luck finding a way to cope with what you are going thru. Take care of yourself. Dan

I really don't have any helpful words for you but just wanted to let you know you are not alone and that I am here to talk to. I am over 400 pounds myself and having major problems as well. I just saw this and wanted to say hello and that I am around to listen if nothing else. *HugS* Sheila
