I am so confused! My finance and I went to our doctors yesterday. I had a horrible time, will never return myself. As far as Ty...in January the doctor said he WAS Diabetic. He finally did a Glucose Tolerance test on him a few weeks ago. The results we NORMAL!! ??? How is this? He's been testing with highs and some lows, also a lot of averages too. I am so confused. Even at the ER once he was high and they flushed his system. What does this all mean??? Any advise here please?

Did you get a copy of the results? Was he taking any medications when he took the test?

No, but we will request a copy now that you mention it! I will have Ty call today when he gets his a$$ outta bed, lol. And no, he was not on any Diabetic meds, but MANY of other kinds...want that list? Would that help? Sheila

Second opinions never hurt. Did he tell the doctor about his blood sugar numbers he was getting at home?

Yes and the MD just said the meter must have been wrong, yet once he was at the ER and it was in the 200's but this MD just ignore us. ULGH! Sheila

Went through this with my oldest brother Scott about a year ago. The test results showed that he had a normal average and therefore he was not considered diabetic. We showed the doc the meter he had been testing with and all the highs he had been having and requested a retest. We were all confused since the only medicine he was taking was for his thyroid. They said that the medication may have been the trigger to the lows that avereaged him out to a non-diabetic. Since that med (synthroid I believe it's called) controlled the glucose enough they have not put him on any other meds but he is now classified as pre-diabetic. Thankfully that diagnosis is enough for insurance to cover his testing supplies. He has been able to control his numbers through diet and exercise but having the meter and strips to test has been very helpful in keeping his glucose under control. The highest he has gone recently was 130. Don't know if this might help but maybe? Other conditions and medications can sometimes alter test results and make for a headache. I hope ya'll get it straight and that Ty keeps doing well. Hugs much...Becky

Your comment may have helped a heck of a lot cause he is on synthroid too!! And maybe he'll at least be able to get his testing supplies with that but we need a different MD to help us, we are going to get a new one come July I am just not sure when the MD's first appt available will be but I love this doctor!! Use to see him before I left this town before, so tickled he's having openings soon! Thank you for this, I REALLY could use any help possible...I love my baby and would do anything for him yanno. Thanks again! *HugS* Sheila
