I just want to say that you are heading in the right direction and at least trying, more than I can say for a lot of others so keep up the good work! *Hugs* Sheila |

Last edited 5 months ago Atta girl! I have found journaling every bite, lick, taste, PLUS my emotional state helps me. I can look back and find a direct tie in between my thoughts and what I eat that day.

Jocelyn replied June 4, 2009 7:36 PM Last edited 5 months ago I do appreciate your gung ho self-assurance, but it really isn't always such a simple formula... sometimes the damage to the pancreas/liver balance is affected by things outside our control... Metabolism can be affected by many, many factors... It is true enough that educating ourselves about options, and making the best life style choices we can will help... but patterns and environments are not always so easy to change...We need to have patience, and empathy for the challenges we face in learning new ways of looking at our problems... I feel deeply concerned for those who take on a sense of failure because they are struggling with over whelming odds, and believe it is their fault because they don't get the support they need. and kindness for their stuggle is missing... The first step in reaching a successful solution is in establishing a circle of support... with caring, even inspiational motivations... being handed a formula is not inspiring... at least not for me... humility is a strength I hope to get better at... and being diagnosed with diabetes has humbled,
Celia replied June 17, 2009 3:47 AM I have learned some new things to try for myself from you. Also you helped me remember things I did years ago. A big Thank you to all. |

Choices we make. From the moment you get up in the morning, you are faced with healthy or unhealthy choices. What is the long term effect of any given choice. If you OD on too many carbs, it can skew your entire day and the next. If balanced, good day ahead for you.
Deleted User replied June 4, 2009 9:44 PM I agree that we need to take care of ourselves but we are not all cut from the same cloth and it's difficult for some to maintain the balance. I myself have found what works for me but it might not work for everyone on this site so I don't preach. I personally think that you mean well with these messages but the tone of them leaves a taste of guilt which I don't believe anyone needs to hear. Again, I'm sure that you mean well and are trying to be motivational but everyone here is human. While making the right choices to manage your life is important, making people feel like they've failed because they haven't or can't is not the right path either. We need to be supportive and help one another get through the good times and the bad times.
Latte Lady replied June 5, 2009 2:35 AM well excuse me. Bye

This week was kind of a mess. How I was successful in loosing weight I have no clue, as I ate more than I should have all week. Not a lot each day, but it all added up in the end.
zobel replied June 15, 2009 8:21 AM gabby that walking helps allot. congrats keep it up.
zobel replied June 15, 2009 8:26 AM gabby i assume you are using a treadmill. am i correct?
Gabby replied June 16, 2009 2:52 AM Nope, I just use my living room floor. Actually, I have a mini track thru my living room, dining room and kitchen. It is a nice little circle. But I am also doing some marching in place. I never thought that would be doing much, but it works different muscles than just walking and then I also jog in place. Works up a little sweat, no special equipment required.
zobel replied June 16, 2009 3:36 AM cool what a great technique. that never occured to me as an option.
Gabby replied June 16, 2009 2:08 PM I also am doing what they call interval exercise. I walk or march in place for a while and then I jog for a short spurt. Then I walk and jog thru the routine. I use the Evening News as my cue. I walk while the news is on and then jog during the commercials. Right now I can't make a jog thru all the commercials, but that is my goal. |

Ok I got those numbers on the distance around the first two blocks. From my door to my door around the first block is 2/10 of a Mile and around the first two blocks from my door to my door is 3/10 of a Mile. The Doc said to start with the first block till I can walk around it 3x without chest pain or back pain. If my legs are still rubbery then stay with that till the rubbery feeling goes away.

I was looking at my log book and found a pattern for my calories. I will have a couple of days where I am at or below my calorie intake goals and then without really thinking about it, I end up with a day where I will go 200-400 over. Killing any progress I made the few days before. It seems to be about every 2-3 days I do this. Plus, this last week I have given in to my menstral munchies. I always crave carbs before my period, it sucks. I thought it was just chocolate I craved, but now that I don't eat that, I think my brain is just craving carbs. So that may be part of my demise. I am not on a regular schedule any more, so knowing that is it doesn't hit me until I get some of my other PMS indicators. Grrrr, the joys of being a woman. LOL I didn't realize how bad it was until I did my averages for this week, my carbs were sky high. And I was doing so well....bummer.
lipsie replied June 23, 2009 11:44 AM That is one thing I do not miss, those lovely periods..ugh I feel for you there! I had to have a hysterectomy a couple years ago...though I do wish I could have given Ty his own child, he's VERY good with the ones' I have now...matter of fact he's never met them in person yet...but my daughter called fathers' day and wished him happy father's day from her to him...she calls him step dad already..she really likes him..its cool. Don't be so hard on yourself about the carbs...unfortunately this is natural with periods...give yourself a break darn ya!! Sheila |

Well, June is coming to an end and I have to say that over all it was a very good month. Got back into exercising, got meds that are working for me, got into a new program that is helping and my class is paying off. This week was a much better week than last.
zobel replied June 28, 2009 5:34 PM congrats
Gabby replied June 28, 2009 11:35 PM That working plan is what is making the progress. It is what I was lacking before. Now I have goals and things to strive for and it makes it easier to stick to it.
Edie replied June 30, 2009 9:38 PM I find that by not adding any salt after done cooking it keeps my sodium lower than before. Good luck Gabby. July is up and running for tomorrow. I have started losing weight again too. Thanks for your pep talk earlier in the Month.

Last edited 4 months ago July's is under Motivation/Emotions again. See you all there. I weighted myself just before starting July's Discussion and posted my weight of 260.8 starting to come down again. Bummer I didn't post a starting Weight for this month or any where else on here so I will start next month with this weight and see where I am in 2 weeks. |
Here we are the Beginning of a New Month. I have had some bad news this last Month from the Dr. that my Sugar A1C has gone back up again and at this time it is at 8.5 and now I have to write down everything I eat each and every day so starting this month I am not only going to be posting my BG Numbers but also my eats and the times I eat them. I have to do this till August 31st my next Appointment with said Dr. Lets see if we can make this a very fun and Memorable Month on here. Also this Month anything goes for what you want to say to me with no ofence taken by me to any one. If you have a beef with my Diabetic Care of my self then feel free to bawl me out on here. If you think I am doing OK then please say so also. Looking forward to the next 3 months will be a very long trip and hopefully much learning on all of our Parts.
Your Friend Always;
Edie
