Ok, I am really confused now, My friend suggested to me to find out just how much sugar will send my blood sugar up considering a healthy meal sends it over 225 + So since I couldnt sleep, I got some marshmallow sticks, 6 of them, chocolate milk, and ate and drink almost two glasses.. After I was done, I thought ok, I will test my levels.. Long and behold, my level was 145!!!! How can this be???? Healthy food sends it threw the roof, yet, sugar and lots of it lowered it from 153 to 145... Can someone PLEASE explain this to me.... I am really confused..I wont be able to see my Dr for at least two weeks, and I simply don't understand..Was it a fluke? I wont be able to test but one more time this weekend. I cant get any supplies until monday, So should I test just when I eat or just when I feel like crap?

Just curious, how long did you wait before you tested yourself, and did you test again after about an hour or so? This honestly doesn't make sense to me either!

It is the general rule that you are not supposed to test until 2 hours after you eat. This way the food you have eaten has time to digest into your system. However, I do think getting other opinions is a good idea.

Fat is one thing that will slow down BG. It might have been the chocolate milk that did it. The only problem is that is JUST slows it down. It will eventually go up. Maybe in four hours instead of just two. You really are eating too many carbs and that will always cause problems.

There's none of us here that can answer all your questions or know what's going on. You will need to let your doctor be your guide and source of information. Different foods do cause different reactions, and they can be different in each one of us. You started another discussion that has some good replys for you. Bottom line is, however, get with your doctor as soon as you can. It really is best, in most cases, to do your testing in the morning before eating, maybe just before eating lunch and dinner, and a couple of hours after each meal. Doing it too often can confuse you.

LadyDi is right, you need to see your DR.
He may have you see a diabetic instructor
who will help you with a diet plan. I test prior to every meal and 2 hrs. after. It is very important to have good control of your BS.

Here is a webpage from DLife that sort of asks the same question. And the answer is what I stated in my previous post. The fat in the chocolate milk is the culprit.
