I was recently diagnosed last October. I chose to regulate my diabetes with diet and excercise rather than taking medication.

I went to a dietician right away and he started me on regulating my diet. I started taking the bus to work and walking.. Since then, I have lost 20 lbs and my sugar levels went down.

I am new here and was looking through the recipes and most contain cheese and dairy products. I'm also lactose intolerant and break out in hives if I eat dairy. Are there good recipe books I can get that don't have dairy in them?

Welcome!!! Have you looked thru the book club section of this site. You might be able to find something there. The icon is on the left side of the page. I'm sorry I'm not much help in that department. Not only do I not have that problem, but with it only being me to cook for, I really don't cook alot!! Glad to have you on board.

thank you both. Yes I've been scrolling through today and found a few things I'm liking. I'm at work today though and can only look between taking phone calls. :)

Welcome and congrats on your success. Keep up the good work!

I was able to control with diet and exercise for 7 years and just recently went on Metformin. My doctor said of all his patients that is a record for controlling with d & e. Good that you got into it early, maybe you can go longer than me!!! This is one situation that I don't want to win.. I'm rooting for you!!
