I love my job.
My company just offered me addtional life insurance.
A 200k policy that they will pay the premiums on, but I will pay the taxes on the premiums as if it were income. Not bad, a policy for the cost of the taxes.
Last year I was turned down for this additonal insurance policy for being diabetic. They company who held the policies would not insure me. So I turned down the offer from our HR person.
They contacted me again and said they went with a new company, a new policy holders and that they couldnt turn me down for pre-existing conditions. SO now I am worth more dead than alive. Please, dont anyone tell my wife.
LOL.

Sarg, I just emailed your wife!

That's great news. I had never been classified as pre-existing until December. Diabetic's are probably more aware of eating healthy, exercise, controlling your life., etc. than someone that does not have diabetes. I think it's awful the way large companies and people who are not diabetic think.
I'm so glad your company found a new insurance company that has the common sense factor. Congrats! Take care, Angie

I'm glad to hear you got your insurance. That is a great relief for you, I'm sure. However, we would prefer you alive rather than dead. We would miss you. Besides, I can't talk to the dead. I would be to afraid they would talk back to me, and then where would I be? lol I know it's not a laughing matter, but I try to see the lighter side of LIFE.

I'm lucky too. I get a free 25k policy as standard and I pay something like $8 a month for an extra 100k. I also get a 30k policy via my wifes employer for a nominal amount. No medicals, nothing excluded. The buying power of group insurance really is powerful.

Now, looking for term life or other private policies is not so easy an no where near as cheap!
