A while ago I started a disscussion about Tattoos, well my son was involved in a car accident recently. He was not hurt except a few sore ribs, but he was very disoriented when the ambulance arrived, first thing they noticed was his tattoo on his forearm and checked his BS..Which was high (due from stress, they said) So I was worried that if anything ever happened to him, would anyone ever see it and they did. So I say it was a good idea for him to get one. And the forearm was a great place to put it. Now I will not worry as much..

Advocate 2 Lisa April 26, 2009 at 7:380 LikesI and my child whom are both Type 1, are allergic to medal, and can not wear medical alert anything… My child is also deaf, and when in a low is really hard to understand her speech, and most emt's can not undestand and need translation… hmm… a medical alert tattoe wow… something to think about, may be something to look into, so people know… for I have low blood sugar unawareness, and child is special needs, and deaf… a way for others to find out, so can help, before to late, I like it… but would worry about the possible infection, that could cause more high numbers, and do not know how that would also affect the sugars because of the physical stress, and healing aspect… BUT INTERESTING TOOL!!! I checked his blood sugar before, during and after…At one point his BS got kinda high during the procedure so I stopped it and he took some insulin…We kept A&D ointment on it for a few weeks. Everything went good..He also got another one (much bigger) on his back and he did good with that one to…Good luck!!

During the process he checked is blood sugar frequently, and he made sure he kept the A&D ointment on it..I worried about that to, but it all worked out..We also checked his blood sugar before they started the tattoo. He once did start to go high, but he stopped the guy doing the tat and gave himself some insulin..I wish you the best..
