Yes we must all unite and defeat the sneaky evil easter bunny by resisting his temptations. |

Don't you know they are all in Cahoots...Cupid starts off the year with all those chocolate morsels filled with creamy goodness and wrapped up in a pretty heart shaped box! St. Patrick is not so devilish but insists that green beer is a good thing and will bring you luck! Then we move onto the fuzzy cutesy bunny with his nose a twitching and his eye a winkin' bringing all the evils you mentioned but lest we forget those darn peeps....hello can you say pure sugar!
Splender replied April 11, 2009 7:56 PM Last edited 7 months ago It couldn't have been said any better!!!You covered it all so what else is left to say but-----do take care and watch out for what you will put into your mouth and when you are just about to stick that oh so good piece of fluffy sugar STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!remember you have to check your sugars! Maybe that will help us a little but I don't know how much. I know when it's time for me to check my sugars I temd to not eat anything for awhile so they aren't high. But that doesn't mean I won't eat that bad old candy either. HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!!!!LOL!!!
Deleted User replied April 11, 2009 9:15 PM You forgot the bewitching time of little ghosts and goblins running from house to house begging for treats. Their parents being good to the little ghosts and goblins and taking care of their health, take most of it away from them and bring it to THE OFFICE!!!!
rbergman replied April 12, 2009 6:42 AM geez, how did I miss that one lmao, ty for reminding me! UGH

The holidays are the worst!!! Even for the caregivers. We plan everything around diabetis, and yet we have to please the non-diabetics. It's not easy! And as far as , all the goodies(that aren't good for us), they are just makin' money. But that don't make it easy, now, does it. Being a caregiver, I have refromed my own eating habits(it won't hurt me), so I also fall into temptation! but all of you, "Have a great Easter" and try(that's all we can do), to do good.
Judimar replied April 11, 2009 5:52 PM Cyn,
Splender replied April 11, 2009 8:07 PM You are so right---all we can do is to try not to let Easter Bunny take over our minds. We have better control over our minds than the Easter Bunny does,we can tell him where to go and to leave us alone!!!In words that sounds good but can we really do it? Only our BS will tell the truth!!! So let all of us try very hard to be as good as we can. Will check back with you on Monday to see what the results are. LOL to you all!!!

I went to the store yesterday for my weekly grocery shopping. I went to the aisle with the chocolate bunnies and the Cadberry eggs. I bought 1 bunny and 2 eggs for my sister who is coming to live with my husband and I now that her husband has passed away because those are her favorites. I considered buying two more eggs but decided I'd be tempted to eat them if I did so I didn't lol. Must resist temptation!!!
Splender replied April 11, 2009 8:11 PM Good Job!! Hope you can do that tomorrow Easter Sunday!!!!We will all be behind you to say no no no no!!!! Eat some fruit instead, that's one of the things I'm going to try. If that don't help then-----oh well just one jelly bean won't hurt-----right? I guess I won't even do that because if I do I won't be able to stop. LOL to everyone.

Last edited 7 months ago Just got on line and stumbled on this great discussion. You guys are crazy, you know! It's good that we can all laugh (and cry!) about this calamity. We really do have the cards stacked against us when a holiday hits, don't we? Bad enough the rest of the time, but they really come after us every holiday. I hope you all are able to resist, or at least take it easy, tomorrow. Have a wonderful and blessed Easter Sunday!

The good news is, it gets easier with experience. This is my 51st Easter with diabetes, and by now, the Easter Bunny tempts me no more than tight-rope walkers do.

No Noooooooooo saying no. I went yesterday put the foot down to the Easter Bunny saying no to the yummy ears and goodies in the baskets. This is the first Easter for me as well and I didn't buy anything at all being very good but going to have a slice of small angel food cake with fresh strawberry's later today though. Happy Easter everyone. |

I blame the kids, they should know better.LOL There's always next year right? The house is now clear of all possible temptations and I will resist the upcoming clearance sales of leftover bunny's..I swear. |

Got us too! As my Wifes Caregiver, this was a tough one. But there has been no 'candy' really involved. She woke at 140 went to 198 to 75 to 251. I've been asking her to test every two hours today, cuz let me say, this is the first time I have been so challenged with the carb/insulin bit today. It is all those creeper carbs and hidden carbs. And this was all just with prepping and munchies!!

He hasn't gotten me yet, but my friend's mother did!! She had a whipped cream/brownie/chocolate chip/strawberry thingy for dessert - I had a large spoonful...BUT no bunny hineys/ears/gumdrop buttons! Going to bed now- have to be up for work at 5AM- and I promise I won't be sneaking up on the kids baskets in the dark of night! Thank you all for making this holiday bearable by sharing all your humor and good wishes! Happy happy Easter and a wonderful tomorrow!!!

Well, I guess I shouldn't say it, but thank goodness some of you "fell off the wagon" today and I was not alone (LOL). Oh fiddly dee! There's always another day! I'll just worry about that tomorrow. (If you're not familar with "Gone with the Wind" that won't mean much to you. Sorry.) Back to work tomorrow (uh, today now) and back to behaving myself a little better.
CharlotteDeneice replied April 13, 2009 5:24 AM Hello LadyD, Easter was fine and I hope you enjoyed it to.I celebrate it as the day Christ rose from the dead.My daughter was home from college, and it was good to see her.I hope she doesn't get diebetis like me.Her eating habits are much better than mine.My doctor said that is where my diebetis came from by eating junk food too much. She is so much smarter than her mom.I hope you have a good week. Charlotte Deneice
LadyDi replied April 13, 2009 11:38 AM Thank you Charlotte. You have a wonderful week too. It's pouring rain outside my place right now! A far cry from yesterday! We need the rain, however.

I was surprised, at 7PM I tested at 211 after eating all day, considering I'm still at 190 in the AM when I get up I was okay with that.

As I knew we would be seeing our granddaughters Saturday and Sunday, and I wanted SOMETHING for them, I got some European chocolates, and, a small box of Ferrero Chocolates for my husband. We ate 2 of them, and the remainder is still on my computer desk. I made brownies for a potluck Monday night, and the leftovers are still here, drying out. Maybe we'll have them tonight with some fresh strawberries. We've been finishing our taxes, and when I checked my blood it was 85. What did I eat? Toast and yogurt. Forgot all about the goodies. Oh, well..... sometimes I am not so well-motivated.
Momto3 replied April 17, 2009 7:52 PM Send the dried out crusty brownies to my husband - he'll eat 'em! Those are his favorite kind! |
I am sorry if all of this is too graphic for you - this is my first Easter as a diabetic...and it's torture!!!To all my friends out there you must be very careful this Easter...there is an evil being lurking out there that will tempt you with Chocolate Rabbits...mouth-watering Jelly-Belly jellybeans, decadent peanut butter eggs, and enticing (sob) Cadbury Creme Eggs! But you must resist temptation...(and only eat the red jellybeans)! Who is this great evil One? THE EASTER BUNNY!!! He will try to melt your mind with the delicious aroma of chocolatey goodness seeping from within a stupid woven basket filled with that nasty plastic pink grass stuff...but we will resist and snack on sugar free peppermint patties or frozen bananas dipped in powdered sugar free hot chocolate mix....won't we? Be strong my friends! And help me to be strong before I bite the hiney off those darn chocolate rabbits!
Happy Easter everyone and keep me posted on how everyone handles the holidays with others in your household who are not diabetic!
