I have NO idea though all this talk lately I think Ty n I are going to do the same as well, heck I also have a seizue disorder that started about a year back so I REALLY need one. I'll keep looking. Sheila
Deleted User replied March 28, 2009 6:32 PM Becky, this won't help you much but it might help others looking for a cheap band that says either Diabetic, Type 1 Diabetic or Seizure Disorder. I have just about every color and they are only around $4.00 each. It's $2.50 shipping, but if you order 1 or 10, it's only $2.50 shipping. I like mine, they hold up well, and I change them out according to what I'm wearing. Check it out www.coolmedid.com. I've had a good experience with them. Take care, Angie
Mom and boys replied March 28, 2009 6:43 PM Audree I just went to the site and they are really cool. But, it ticks me off that they are $5 !!! Every charity/cause sells the same exact thing for $2 and makes 50% profit. Slap the word diabetic on it and they are going for triple profit.
Deleted User replied March 28, 2009 7:14 PM Are they $5.00 now? OMG. When I ordered mine, they were $2.99 (I think), maybe $3.50 at the most. I got mine back in December. Wow, they have marked them up and I hate it, because they are really good bands. Take care, Angie
ewskis replied March 28, 2009 7:33 PM I'm a big fan of coolmedid bracelets and think that the price is reasonable when you look at all the other bracelets and the price that is being asked for those.
Deleted User replied March 28, 2009 7:37 PM I was thinking about the price going up, lol, it's our economy. I know I love my bands and I would pay $5.00 for these. They get a person's attention and that's what we need in a diabetic crisis. Take care! |

This doesn't help but I am thinking about making my own. Purchase a tag that I can use on different bands that I make. I am even thinking about an anklet for the summer (pool). |

Beyer .com and the Jonas brothers' have supported a new program and they designed child, adult and non diabetic family member charms on nice chain. 5.00 a piece which Nick Jonas donates to diabetic cure and research
rbergman replied March 29, 2009 2:59 PM These are nice for the price but, they only say Diabetic on them, no other information so if you have other conditions it doesn't really help much, and I wonder also, those of you who have had ID's made, do you just have Diabetes put on there or do you also have it tell whether you are T1 or T2? For a T1 the answer is going to be an insulin issue, however what if you are a T2 and NOT on insulin but only oral meds, if it just says diabetic sure it tells them what you have but would they automatically assume insulin? Mine says "Diabetes T2" and that I'm allergic to PCN. Then in smaller letters it says "see wallet card" That way they not only know I'm a T2 but that my medications are listed on a wallet card, and, I have my drivers license wrapped inside my wallet card, they can't get my drivers license out without pulling out the wallet card with it, just to try and save them from having to dig around looking for the wallet card or my license to figure out who I am should the need arise. |

Last edited 7 months ago Hello, I myself didn't wear any type of Medical ID, then, back in February our 7yr old daughter was diagnosed diabetic, plus she already had a thyroid condition and severe allergies. So, I started researching to get her a medical ID as it was past time to make sure if something happened to her at school or some place other than at home people would know what conditions she has.

Thanks everyone for the advice. For now I have the standard one that reads DIABETIC and a little sticker that reads "see wallet card", but I need one that lists my allergies and other medical conditions. The nurse at Endo's office said that the one I have now is pretty useless since my allergic reactions to morphine, codine and Phenergen are so severe...grand mall seizures. Also because I'm bi-polar with a history of black-outs they want one that reads that too. As you can tell that adds up to a lot of space on an ID. I need a large one and all of those seem to be pretty expensive. Still on the hunt for one. Some you've suggested will work for Mom though. She already has a necklace with her allergies and was going to get a new one that has Diabetic on it as well. She's newly diagnosed and on oral meds and Byetta. Has anyone had experience with the Flash drive ID's? My brother suggested that but it seems like it's not as effective, no immediate information as they have to hook up to a computer. Curious. |

My 31st Birthday is coming up and for my gift Mom and I have decided that we would both like to get new Med tags. Right now I am wearing my uncles old one that just reads "DIABETIC". We're looking for ones that allow more space for conditions and personal info. We are both on limited budget so looking for something reasonable. Anyone have some suggestions? The ones we have found are all around the $100 mark and that is out of the question.
