If this was five years in the future and you could come back to today's date and give yourself some advice, what would it be?

This is from Ty n Sheila: Treasure what you have, live more, love more, spend more time with those whom you love, live healthier...yeah I think that covers it. Good question, I love your thought process. Thanks! Sheila

I think a better question would be if you could go back 5 years today, what advice would you give yourself? For that the advice would be, go to the doctors on a regular basis.

Jocelyn replied March 24, 2009 4:33 PM

you beat me to it Kdrobert... that was going to be my follow up question.... good for you...lol

I really like the idea of making 6 month, 2 year, and 5 year goals. Keeping journals is helpful too in processing your ideas, and exploring your ideals... Imagination is an amazing tool for self development. Our subconscious doesn't know the difference between real and imagined. If we talk, I can't... it believes us. IF we talk, I can... It believes us... That's why having a clear intention gives us the impetus we need to create things... Every invention in our physical/structural world was once in someone's imagination... Visualization is powerful... So now that you have looked back to now from your future... consider what you wish you had said to your past... and unwrap that present by living in the today with intention...It works even better when you get others to do it with you...have fun... and thanks for joining this discussion... I love playfulness. Laughter is the best medicine... yeepeeeee

The year 2014 (looking back 5 years) - Take some extra time for yourself and relax!

2009 - (looking back 5 years) - Never give up, you will beat this thing and if you can't beat it you can learn to live with it and play nice !!

2004 - (looking back 5 years) - Get to the doctor for a checkup before something is wrong!!!

Jocelyn replied March 25, 2009 3:54 AM

Don't do so much worrying--these things will be there till the day you die--so why make yourself sick over it. Learn to live with it and start to do things that will make you happy. Laughter is better than medicine sometimes. Thank you Jocelyn.

If Life is a Bow of Cherries, why do I get the pits?, or something like that.... I always got a kick out of Steve Martin's Cruel Shoes too... Folding soup was a hoot...

I would have listened to the people who knew where I was headed. I would have tried harder to be healthier when I was still able. Never give up trying and we all make mistakes, with Gods help another door will open and give me another chance to try and do it right. Where there is life there
is still hope. Thanks Jocelyn for the question.

This is not really advise. I just hope in 5 years, we have a CURE. Not just insulin and medications to get each of us through the day. Be it Type 1, Type 2, Gestational or Pre-Diabetes, we need a CURE. Good question my friend! Angie

Jocelyn replied March 25, 2009 8:17 PM

that would be something to celebrate... maybe it will come true... I hope so too... j

Splender replied March 26, 2009 2:27 AM

Angie, This has been my dream since I first found out I had diabetes 20 years ago!!! I hope I live long enough to see this happen.

Slow down, accept what is and realize you can't change everything. Don't sweat the small stuff.
