I checked out The Diabetes Carbohydrate & Fat Gram Guide, third ed. by Holzmister. and another book I chedk out and will buy is The Complete Diabetes Prevention Plan by Sandra Woodruff. It is chalk full of great recipes… Another useful book for Diabetes Control is 8Weeks to Maximizing Diabetes Control by Laura Hieronymus. I'm actually going to do the 8 week plan and see if it helps me… can't go wrong on trying good advice… lol Good luck with your search…j

I actually have been an insulin diabetic for many years and I count individual meals like if I drink milk thats a carb and fruit is a carb and anything that is made of flour or corn thats why the veggie corn is a carb if you do it that way it is easier but being on a pump I would not know I think the pump is more confusing? Sorry I couldnt help more
God Bless

hey, we use the Calorie King also, our doctor gave it to us and it has every food you can think of in it and it's carb-calorie and fat intake amounts. It is also a small book so it fits perfect in her bag.

Hello Diane. I like "The Calorie King". It gives the calorie, fat and carb content of almost everything we eat. It also lists the more popular restaurant chains and gives the same info for most of the things they serve. I ordered mine from amazon.com. I keep one at home and one in my car. Many diabetic friends on many sites recommend this booklet.
You can also find carb content of food online. Here is the Calorie King site:

when I first started insulin I used a pamphlet I got from the diabetic center on carbs which covered all foods by groups and worked fine. As well as another booklet that covered all fast food places and listed carbs on there foods. I couldn't find either on the net however did find what looks like a good book on carbs. Hope this helps.. http://www.diabetesnet.com/ishop/product_info... David

Goddess, I used to count carbs, eg. 15 grams equals one carb, but now being on the pump, I watch a different way, in carb grams.
I think if you have a peek at the book section of this site, you'll find some really great choices!
Sorry I couldn't be of much help!
