Yes! There is a science and art to feeding people and it is called dietetics. What we need from food varies with age, excercise, surrounding and temperature. Ther are five nutrition values that are essential to life and health. Proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals. Water is essential to life, although it has no food value. So, to be nutritionally complete, a diet must contain all these elements in balanced proportions. Proteins are called the buildind blocks of living tissue. Since the human body cannot stor protein, it must be renewed daily. The best sources are milk, meat and fish, poultry and cheese. Vegetable sources include soybeans, nuts, peanuts, legumes, and wheat and greens.
