i HOPE EVERYONE HAS A VERY HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY. I found some whole wheat low carb pasta in the shapes of hearts so I am going to make a meditrainian pasta salad for the family for dinner. I have a really good recipe, and I can make everything ahead of time and then grill the steaks just before super.
What are everybody's plans?
I have to make the salad ahead of time because I have to run concession stands today for the basketball game and get home for more of my girlscouts to come pick up yet more cookies they have sold. No going out for a nice romantic dinner this year with my husband.

My husband and I had dinner out. We both had the baked salmon with roasted vegies over a bed of brown rice & beans. It was delicious and a great night out. Our first in quite a few months. Not bragging, it was just an unexpected surprise.

That sounds wonderful. I am thinking about calling a friend (and former patient) and inviting her to dinner tonight (15 Feb) since the wait time won't be so bad as it would be on VDay. Just two friends eating out.

That sounds good. I started seeing the organist from my church and as she was fairly recently widowed we were just going to be fiends. Instead we found love again and were married on Jany 22 and are very happy. Good luck to you.

Well CONGRATULATIONS Bob! That is so nice to hear!
I had been "smitten" with M when I was her CNA, and she knew it (I had been recently divorced shortly after I started working for her). She let me know indirectly that her polcy was not to date current (would have been against Agency and other State rules) or former Aides. We are now just close friends. I seriously doubt that we will ever be more than that.

Update on my friend "M" I called her landline and a guy (probably her ex BF David) answered and when I asked for M, he said she was in a nursing home in Henderson, and probably be there for the rest of her life, so my plans to have dinner out with her had to be scrapped. Now I have to find out where the nursing home is and go to visit her, if I can. That is so sad. Even though she was confined to a wheelchair for the years I knew her, she had so much life in her. I hate to think of her needing round the clock care in a nursing home. She was only about 61 or 62.

jaybee, I am so sorry to hear that my prayers are with you to find her and be able to go see her. That is sad to hear when someone you know who was so vibrant and full of life just a few short years ago has been put in a nursing home. I wish you all the best.

True, but he worked really hard today and his knee is still bothering him, had to take him in last week and have fluid drained off of it, he is not sure what he did to it. I am beat after running around collecting donations for our Schools annual Pork Loin dinner in which we have a silent auction and a live auction and I am in charge of both, that is another thing I have under my belt, I am an auctioner. Working concession stands, do the VD party for the kid's at the school and cooking super I am beat.

Easier said then done, our school got a little smaller this year and I don't even have a child that goes there anymore, but I am the PTL President, and the parents we do have tere is 4 sets, they all have two children that come to school, and they think that because they work and I work from home I have all the time in the world to do this. They don't know that every year at this time I also do a catering job for my In Laws Crop Insurance business and then one for our Customer appreciation dinner. Even when you tell them they act like it is nothing. Now two of these mothers, one works 2 days with 10 days off and the other works Sunda, Monday and Tuesday nights with Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday's off, so yeah I am the only one who does nothing. NOT! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear you Margo, and feel your pain! I used to have a position in my congregation, which had a parochial school where I was called upon for most any and everything for church and school. Sometimes one just has to resign from the (unpaid) job ahead of time, (give em a little time to find someone else to do it) and then stop working at the stated time. If they don't get someone else to do it, or find some way to otherwise get it done, stick to your deadline and refuse to take on the job again. Yes it was HARD to say "No" initially, but was necessary for my peace of mind and got easier as time went along and folks got used to the "new normal". The congregation and parochial school is still going great about 9 or 10 yrs after that incident.

I am glad to hear that your school is still going. The thing about ours is we have no parents that have any kind of motivation, and the Head Teacher can't remember her own name, so the school doors would close for good if I did that. We have a brand new pastor as our Pastor of 36 years retired and I am trying to help him as much as possible. I have told him my feelings on everything and he asked me to be patient as he get's the hang of everything and well start trying to get this taken care of an resolved.

it DOES take a new pastor (especially one fresh from the seminary) to get his feet under him. I had been involved in several small LCMS congregations in the midwest before moving to LasVegas in 1993. (only one of those had a school - 2 rooms -) out in Nebraska, I could tell stories about those congregations. perhaps I will if instigated (but on the DC mail). Aren't you from Nebraska Margo? I might know some of the places near you.

Yes, I am In Nebraska. I live a 1/4 mile down the road from Immanuel Lutheran School anc church which are across the road from each other. Our school is two rooms. Hooper Nebraska

I am not familiar with Hooper, the 2 room school that my (now ex) wife taught in was about 5 miles outside of Bancroft NE in the middle of a cornfield (quite literally). It was Zion Lutheran church and school Bancroft. We were only there for a year in the early '80s. We moved back to Nebraska (from Sw KS) to Bertrand NE for about 4 yrs, and then I had a breakdown and had to leave my profession. My (then) wife got a teaching job in Broken Bow NE, but we were there for only a year and her contract was not renewed. She had heard of teaching positions in Las Vegas, and even interviewed for a position. But she felt that she wouldn't be hired there and then applied for and was accepted at a Lutheran School in North Las Vegas. So we moved to Vegas (where we eventually divorced and I later met "Jem" online and fell in love with and moved to CA to marry her).
That in a nutshell is part of my story.

I know all the towns and areas in Ne that you were at. The current teacher up here came from the Zion school your ex worked at. To bad they did not tell us before we hired her that she does not do well with younger children and that she has no attention span and remembers almost nothing.
Sounds like your journey has taken you to many places but CA was the best. It sounds like the internet was good to you and Jem and that is a sweet sweet story. Picking up and moving to a place you have never been to be with the one you love. Now that is true Love.

Now her ashes are resting in a cemetary near my boyhood church in Northwest OH, where I plan to be when it is my time. I took her there in July 2011. Went back in Oct 2011 to see the marker stone where her ashes are. We'll be together forever in heaven! and our ashes will be together until our Lord comes back. Moving to CA was an act of love, because she had congestive heart failure for 20 years shortly before her death. I knew how fragile she was and her medical care for her heart was coordinated through a heart transplant center about 40 miles from her home. I knew how fragile she was and I wanted her to live as long as she could so I couldn't encourage her to move away from that great care she was getting there. It was easier to uproot me to move there than it would be to uproot her to move here, so there was a little bit of practicality in my move there too. Also, Jem's mom was still living when I made the decision to move there, and I didn't want to move Jem away from her. Her mom was also failing, and we got a quickie wedding in Mama G's bedroom (MamaG had become unresponsive so we held it there so she could hear it happening - during the service MamaG opened her eyes and smiled! She then died the next day.)
Now the burial plans are affecting my potential relationships, because if I get into another love relationship, how will that effect my plans to "rest" in the plot next to Jem? Another lady with whom I had developed a budding relationship told me that I am still too obsessed with Jem. Perhaps she's right. But I guess that's something that will take time to correct, if ever I can.
I haven't kept track of what has been happening at Zion so don't know to whom you refer. I heard my ex went back to Zion for some kind of centennial for the school a couple years ago. From what I hear from her about that Zion hasn't changed much since we were there, except most got older and those that didn't passed on. It is still struggling as it was when we were there in the late 70s.

Yes, most of the smaller lutheran schools are really struggling thses day's, but we have a teacher/preincepal that doesn't think what the parents want to do and that advertising our school is a good thing. She fights us every step of the way. Does she not realize if the school closes she has no job. I mean HELLO! Then when she tells us to do something and we do, she doesn't remember telling us that and we get yelled at for doing it. I am going to the pastor and talking to him about it, because he needs to talk with her and if she doesn't like what the parents want and can't remember things she needs to go and we will find a new teacher.
I don't think there is anything wrong with being burried or ashes scattered with the love of your live. My grandfather god rest his soul lost my grandmother when my mom was 13 and way before I was ever born he passed away two years ago and was burried next to her in Victoria Kansas, and his wife had no problem with that. Any woman that you may meet if she really loves you she will understand the bond with Jem and that it was a very hard and devastatting way to loose her and will understand that the love of your life is where you want to be by and will be ok with that and grant you that final request when it happens.
I do not believe you are I do not think you are obsessed with her. It has been only a short time sincce loosing her and because of the degree of love you both had for one another it will take time, but you are allowed to have your plot next to your first true love that was really true love, there is nothing wrong with that.
Hang in there, god will take care of you and is watching out for you. Obviously he knew this woman that said that was not the right woman for you.
Gad Bless!

I am not sure how I do it. The salad it's self is great with out the meat on it, I love it. It has artichokes and black olives and all kinds of other veggies in it and then the hommade dressing and the grated fresh Agioso and Parmessian chesse yummy.

my hubby and I went out to dinner the other night, it's way too busy in all the restaurants , too crowded on this day, so we try to go out a night or two before or after v-day. been busy all day long, so today hasn't really been any different. enjoyed going to my youngest child's v-day party near the end of school today and giving her a present. I hope everyone has had a good day and those that have a significant other, I hope they have given you something really nice. So far, I have resisted the temptation to eat any of the candy! At church sunday, afterward when we had lunch, someone had some chocolate covered strawberries, they were sooooo good. I ate just one! proud of that, but I wanted more and I wanted more than one little chocolate truffle too.

MMMM that sounds great! I will be cooking grilled chicken with a side of quinoa which I have playing with a "fried rice" recipe which I haven't perfected. I actually am trying to fry egg whites, with some scallions, throw in some spices and then the quinoa - its yummy 1/2 cup quinoa equals about 20 g of carbs. I also want to try cherry flavored meringues with Stevia - low carb and will satisify my sweet tooth! My veggie will be a pile of brocolli - my favorite! My husband also gets a baked potato, (of course I don't) I don't even miss them. Have a nice time!
