My Source: Diabetic Testing Supplies

Many of us are well insured and don't really have to worry about where we get our testing tools and supplies from. I don't fall into that category and I know there are a lot of us who pay out of pocket for some or all of our items we need to make sure we can keep on top of our diabetes control.

I use the Reli-On meter and test strips. I purchased the mini from Sam's Club for about $10.00 and the packs of 50 strips are $19.00. If you don't have a Sam's Club, you can get similar pricing at WalMart.

For Glucose tabs, I use my store brand by Publix. You can spend more on the Dex and other brands, but I find the store brands to work just fine. I believe even Walgreen's has a store brand. Give them a try.

I used to use Ebay a lot as well. When I had the TruRead brand meter, I could get test strips and lancets for great prices. You do have to be careful and look to see the expiration dates on those items, but I never had any trouble with purchasing them online in the two years I was doing that. Of course, the strips came with boxes of lancets, so I am stocked for life with those puppies.

What are some of your sources for out of pocket items you use to monitor your levels?
