Anonymous February 17 at 5:440 LikesEdited February 17 at 5:44 by AnonymousPot/weed or what ever you want to call it has its place in medicine. I smoked it every day (several times a day) for seven years in my stupid teens. That was over forty years ago! What I've heard an ounce of pot now is going for about $100-150 bucks, forget it! Most I ever paid was $20 for an ounce of primo pot, most of the other times it was $10. At the height of my addiction I smoked 1/4 of a pound a month by myself. At today's prices I couldn't afford it, then if the government taxed it?! The meds I take now are bad enough! Maybe if I was terminally ill would I even consider it. I now like being in control of my mind, not jetting around the ozone like a space cadet!

Don't use it, but I would guess as long as you kept your bg under control that would be all you could do? As with all drugs, ask your dr the answers to your questions. There is also the ask an expert option on this site as well. I would want to know before making the choice to use it.

While I don't personally advocate the use of recreational drugs, there are a lot of studies going on involving marijuana and the treatment of diabetes. Here are some articles on it. http://www.diabeticconnect.com/news-articles?...
And here are some more on Cannabis: http://www.diabeticconnect.com/news-articles?... -

seriously, if you are taking about Marijuana (cannabis), there are anecdotal reports of its use being beneficial to People with diabetes (PWDs). There is a blog from 2005 on Diabetes Mine which claims that here ~ http://www.diabetesmine.com/2005/10/treating_... Of course the source of the information is from a pro Marijuana use organization, so to my mind the info is suspect.
There is also a forum on Medhelp which discusses this topic here ~ http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Alternative-Ther...
But especially read this from March 2008 issue of Diabetes health for the pros and cons of many drugs, both legal and illegal, and make up your own mind The issue is here ~ http://www.diabeteshealth.com/read/2008/03/13... In this article it is stated the individual who have diabetes response to any substance is unique and not predictable. so for some cannibus may raise one's BG and for others it could lower it, in some cases too much. Then it is pointed out that when on a drug, most often the person is not thinking clearly. That could lead to dangerous mistakes. Read the whole article and make your own decision. My body is so messed up I don't want to chance putting another foreign substance in it. But that's just me.

Awesome James! I might add that the use of marijuana can bring on the "munchies" for most users. I did try smoking it for a bit back in the 80's but was allergic and it put me to sleep for over 12 hours. Though I kept trying for about 3 months to keep up with my friends all I did was sleep and never did stay awake long enough to get the munchies.
Remember much of our control depends on our meal plans and getting the munchies and cleaning out the frige can really raise your BG.

I tried it ONCE the summer after I graduated HS (1970) LONG before my Dx of DMT2 in 1995.
I smoked it in a pot party at an acquaintence's place. I probably got more from the smoke in the air than I did from the joint. It was over 10 miles back home from there, and I was getting PARANOID big time!
I left early and drove slowly back home, frightened that the cops would pull me over and bust me for DUI. Fortunately i didn't attract unwanted attention and made it home without incident.
I was also frightened what would happen if Dad found out, but fortunately
I escaped his notice too (there would have been HELL to pay if he found out). I don't remember whether I got the munchies when I finally got home. That incident scared me so bad I never went back to pot ever again. and it has admittedly colored my view of the question of medical marijuana also. But I also think the Med Marijane people are pushing WAY too hard to get it accepted.

I have taken maybe three singular puffs in a lifetime as a teenager.
I did the first one on my own in a concert at the famous Fillmore in San Francisco
The other two times were dares only to reconfirm that I hated smoke in my lungs. Never again any smoke of any kind. I rather a person smoke and drive than drink and drive though. -

In Washington state like several others medicinal marijuana was passed the the states have repealed the laws. It is great for those who are terminally ill, or going through cancer treatments etc. It does have its place. Recreational could be taxed heavily and help the economy.

When Weedbegone fails I use my grandson to do the trick. Yes weeds mess me up as I am allergic to many of them and cucumber plants.
