I too like the UK sites. I was kind of following a bloat from England for a while. He was a very strong voice in his country. I have not seen him for a while. I guess I need to go hunt for him. He was on TV and did all kinds of events. Nice guy.

I'm NEW here. I've had Type 1 Diabetes for 6 to 7 years. I'm not sure if or when I might expect I'll die. I'm sort of curious about that right "NOW"!! When they first diagnoised Type 1 for me I just wasn't able to comprehend at that time how serios it really was. (Foolish)!! None the less I thught they were all just abit overly concerned & I went about everything incorrectly. I ended up having a Keoacedotic event that almost killed me. 3 days after I awoke with a newer respect for this disease. Since then I've tried to learn everything I could about the treatments. I've been searching for a Guide ICO a day to day meal plan specialized for myself. Thats exactly what I need Do you think you could help me find it?? I appreciate anything you may be able to help me with. My names Craig & I'd be so very happy to know you in a more personal manner if you'd be so willing!!

I am sure I will die Craig, I think we all do eventually. The question then is WHEN? and most of us want to be "at the latest possible time". Diabetes is not a death sentence if you take good care of yourself. There is a gent who posts on DC (and other diabetes sites) under the screen name of Richard157. He is a T1 who is 75 (as I recall) and has had diabetes 60+ years (longer than I have been alive.). There is also a gent by the screen name of "JonBen or JB" who has had T1 for nearly that long.

One of our most active posters here is "Dietcherry" who is also a T1. She might help you find your own specialized plan for yourself.

And I have developed a way of testing your Blood glucose (BG) readings to be able to personalize your meal plan to find out which foods "play nice" with your unique metabolism, I will share it with you if you reqest it

I do still fall into the "I heard that…" trap and get my hands slapped once in a while. LOL. Research is good. A lot of research is better, after that it just gets confusing.

I agree. But new things happen every day. Just wish we didn't spend so much time spamming each other and instead lift up the good things in life and the bad we can overcome if we work together. Right now I am battling intense pain in my left lower leg. Have been meeting with an awesome neuromuscular specialist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Waiting on one of his colleagues to call me to get set up with getting injections in my calf of a growth factor they have been researching. Experimental stuff, but I am agreeing to try it. All expenses paid. I mean, what the hell, why not?

That sounds sweet. What is it exactly? I am always experimenting and trying to figure things out. But if they are going to pay for it, sounds like a great deal as long as you trust them.

Don't quite know yet. He just told me it involves some injections in a pattern on my left calf, followed by another series several weeks later. Just waiting to get set up with it. Kind of exciting, ya know? Have foot drop in my rt. lower leg, cuz I damaged the peroneal nerve, so I use a wheeled walker for now. He said the nerve has been known to grow back but can take upwards of 1.5 to 2 years; just finished up 10 nerve stim treatments on it to no avail. Not depressed about it. Still exercise and keep the muscles stretched to stave off further atrophy in my feet. Willing to try anything.
