In October, 2008, the Diabetes Forecast (the ADA's magazine) celebrated its 60th anniversary. Eleven long term type 1 diabetics were interviewed in that issue. I was one of them. All participants had been type 1 for at least 60 years. My story is in the left hand column in the following article.

Hi Roshy! Over 370 copies of my book have been sold. The parents of type 1 children are inspired to read about diabetes in the 1940s and beyond, and see that I have lived so long and stayed so healthy.
I'm glad you took part in that research! I know how you feel.

You are a real inspiration Richard!
I frequently refer to you when a scared person with diabetes first comes on here and wonders how long they're going to live. Just this morning I told a newly Dxd T1 about you. I encouraged him to look you up and follow you (and a couple other notable people on this site). He messaged me on my wall just this afternoon and told me how much it meant to him.
