Like "Hey Gabby, that's a great story. I also try to take a moment and smile when I have the opportunity. I have made it my intention to make eye contact, smile, and say thank you to check out clerks at the grocery store or any other store I go into. Just taking that moment to acknowledge someone else's humanity has been rewarding. Of course, I don't always get a response, and clerks in NYC often don't say thank you. But when I do make a connection, and they smile back, I feel a rush of feel good energy that can keep me feeling upbeat the rest of the day. I think this is especially important when, with the day to day stress of the holidays, we can forget that the holidays are all about kindness and gratitude."
