You have done a great job and if you stop taking the medicine, you may find you have to work a little harder to maintain. Like Type1Lou says, if you went back to your old eating habits, you would find (most likely) that your A1c would start to go back up. Sadly, once you are diabetic, it sticks around. You have been blessed with good control, but it doesn't mean your diabetes is gone. A person without diabetes can eat anything they want and never go above 140. A bag of jelly beans, cake, ice cream and soda...all of that in one sitting will not raise a person's glucose above 140 if they do not have diabetes. Me, on the other hand, would be going to the hospital."
