Like "Hi teacherspet, Thanks for your reply. I wish more doctors would at least have the stress conversation with their patients. So many people are living with stress and have no idea what they can do. A physician doesn't have to be a counselor. But he/she can listen, encourage the patient to get support, offer encouragement, talk about whether their regimen may be adding to their stress in some way, e.g. an exercise plan that isn't realistic, and point them in the right direction. I worry about patients who don't know what mental health resources might be available to them, and their physician might be the one who could have pointed them in the right direction.
