Like "Complications can come about because the person was unaware of having diabetes. There are millions walking around right now not knowing they are diabetic. By the time it is detected and treatment begun, enough damage could have been done to cause disablement. Then too we have a lot of folks out there who simply cannot afford to stay on top of their health, which is sad. The system is imperfect, and we end up helping some who perhaps do not merit it, but we can't overlook those who do need the help."
