Like "I too have my highest readings first thing in the morning. I've also heard of the dawn effect. I've heard that you actually should eat a snack before bed to keep from plunging very low in middle of the night and then having your system shoot out sugar (too much). I've also heard it's a good idea to test yourself between 2 and 3 a.m. to get a picture of what's happening then (e.g. are you plunging real low)? I know it's a pain and something i've been ignoring about myself for a while now. It's so hard, too, because diabetes is treated so often as an across-the-board disease when it's anything but that -- it seems SO individualized, which makes it challenging, that's for sure. "
