1 cup water
1/2 c sugar
4 c fresh or frozen blackberries
1/4 c lemon juice
2 tbsp finely shredded lemon peel
In medium saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring often, reduce heat. Gently boil, uncovered for about 2 minutes. Cool slightly.
in blender combine blackberries, lemon juice, and sugar mixture, blend until nearly smooth. Press mixture through fine mesh sieve over medium bowl, discard seeds.
Pour berry puree into a 3 quart rectangular baking dish. Cover and freeze about 1 1/2 hours or until nearly firm. Break up frozen mixture with a fork and freeze for atleast another hour.
