Almost Fast Food Burger

By teddybearcub1960

The name of this burger says it all!

Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon low-fat mayonnaise

  • 1/2 teaspoon ketchup

  • 1/2 teaspoon yellow mustard

  • 1/4 pound 96% lean ground beef

  • 1 slice (3/4 ounce) fat-free American Cheese (optional)

  • 1 whole-grain or whole-wheat hamburger bun

  • 1/4 cup chopped romaine lettuce leaves

  • 1 thin slice red onion

  • 3 dill pickle rounds

Directions
  1. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard. Stir to mix. Set aside. Shape the beef into a patty that is 1/2" wider than the bun.

  2. Preheat a medium nonstick skillet or grill rack on high heat. Place the patty on the pan or grill. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. (Do not smash the burger with the spatula.) About 30 seconds before the burger is cooked, top with the cheese, if desired. Place the bun halves, cut sides down, on the pan or grill. Cook for about 45 seconds or until toasted.

  3. Place the bun bottom on a serving plate. Top with the patty, lettuce, onion, and pickles. Spread the reserved sauce evenly over the inside of the bun top. Flip onto the burger. Serve immediately.

Take an "almost fast food burger" and turn it into a pile of seeds FEW FOLKS will eat! When it LOOKS like a pile of rabbit food it does NOT satisfy! The following ticks me off and is a GUARANTEE I will be seeking a GREAT TASTE that does NOT make me want o hit McDonald's!'
I CANNOT STOMACH MOST OF THESE "ITEMS":
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon low-fat mayonnaise … GOO THAT TASTES NASTY!
1 slice (3/4 ounce) fat-free American Cheese -FAT FREE + IT'S AMERICAN PROCESSED GARBAGE!

WHY DO FEEL IT NECESSARY TO PUT DOWN A GREAT TASTE AND AKE PEOPLE FELL LIKE THEY ARE "BAD"? There are MANY BREADS that do NOT HAVE PROCESSED INGREDIENTS! FAR BETTER THAN NOT HAVING A REAL BURGER!

WHY CAN'T YOU LET THIS SLIDE? ———->"Bread again? What is wrong with eating all this without the bun? The fact that it's whole grain, does not change that it is GRAIN." <————— HOGWASH!

Bread again? What is wrong with eating all this without the bun?
The fact that it's whole grain, does not change that it is GRAIN.

If you're in need of more fiber, please resist the urge to fortify it with
whole grains. While they certainly contain fiber, if you are already
insulin and leptin resistant they will raise your insulin and leptin levels,
which is a major driver of most chronic diseases. Besides, most whole grain
products on the market are highly processed, which further deteriorates their
value. Instead, focus on eating more vegetables, nuts, and seeds.

The following whole foods, for example, contain high levels of soluble and
insoluble fiber:

Psyllium seed husk
flax and chia seeds
Berries
Vegetables such as broccoli and Brussels sprouts
Root vegetables and tubers including onions, sweet potatoes and jicama
Almonds Peas
Green beans
Cauliflower
Beans

Intake of grains should be as close to ZERO as possible… Dr. Sears wrote recently that eating grains is true for birds, not for us…

Grains:
- make us fat,
- elevate our blood glucose leading to diabetes,
- give us gluten (i.e. GLUE that creates plaque in arteries and brain blood vessels) leading to leaky gut and in some the Celiac disease,
- give us inflammation that is the root cause of most chronic diseases like diabetes, heart diseases, arthritis, Alzheimer's and more…
