Fresh Greenbean Casserole

Dry ranch dressing mix is the ingredient that gives this green bean casserole the extra flavor that will wow your family.

Fresh Greenbean Casserole
Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 lbs greenbeans, trimmed

  • 2 Tbsp. butter or mararine

  • 3 Tbsp. flour

  • 1 Tbsp. DRY RANCH DRESSING MIX

  • 1 1/2 cups low-fat milk

  • Nonstick cooking spray

  • 1 cup, finely chopped onions

  • 2 clloves garlic, minced

  • 1 1/2 cups, sliced, fresh mushrooms

  • 1 cup whole wheat or white bread crumbs * equals about 1 1/2 slices of bread.)

  • 1/4 ea. ground white pepper

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a covered saucepan, cook green beans in a little water for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until crisp tender. When done drain and set aside.

  2. Meanwhile in med. saucepan melt butter. When melted stir in flour, dry salad mix, white pepper until combined. Then add all the milk, add slowly whisking all the while until thickened and bubbly. Remove from heat.

  3. Coat non-stick skillet with pan spray, pre-heat over med heat. Add onion, garlic . Cook 2 to 3 minutes or until tender. Remove 1/2 of onion/garlic mix set aside.

  4. Add mushrooms to skillet with remaining 1/2 onion/garlic mix. Cook until tender. In 1 quart casserole dish, spray with cooking spray. Combine mushroom, onion/garlic mix, green beans and white sauce. Mix all well.

  5. In a small bowl mix together bread crumbs and onion mixture. Sprinkle all over top of casserole. Bake uncovered 30 to 35 min. or until heated through.
