"Portobello 'pizzas'"

Portobello mushrooms prove to be the perfect pizza crust alternative making these mini pizzas an ultra low carb dish.

  • 4 whole portobello mushroom caps(about 5" ea) stems removed

  • 1/2 cup low-fat marinara sauce

  • 1/2 cup lean turkry sausage,cooked,drained& crumbled

  • 4 TBSP shredded fat-free or low -fat mozzarella cheese

  • 2 TSP freshly grated parmesan cheese

  • 1 TBSP chopped fresh basil

  1. Preheat the oven 350F. Wipe the mushrooms clean of any dirt. Place them on a baking sheet, gill side up. Spoon the sauce over each cap, then sprinkle sausage and the cheeses. Place in the oven and bake 6-8 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Garnish with fresh basil. Serve immediently.

My husband has been craving pizza. Why didn't I think of this?! We love grilled pizza - what an great substitute! I forgot to give a star rating - but I'd say two thumbs up!

Great recipe. It is not often that I find one where I like everything needed to make it, but this one fits that tall order. Thanks for posting it.

I love this idea. A mushroom substituted for the crust!! I love pizza and I love mushrooms. We will definitely be trying this one.

i love pizza but my bg goes way up when i eat just one small slice. i also love mushrooms so im going to try this pizza. it sounds yummy
