Homemade Low Carb BBQ Sauce

Why settle for store-bought barbecue sauce when you can make this sensational sauce yourself?

Homemade Low Carb BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup fresh chopped onion

  • 2 medium garlic cloves , minced or pressed

  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar

  • 1/4 cup tomato paste , organic

  • 1/2 cup apple cider , unsweetened

  • 2 tbsp prepared yellow mustard

  • 2 tbsp molasses

  • 3 piece raw bacon slices

  • 1/2 tsp ground thyme

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Directions
  1. In blender or food processor, combine all ingredients, except bacon. Purée until smooth.

  2. Transfer to small saucepan. Add bacon, and simmer, uncovered, 10 to 15 minutes, stirring often, until thickened. Discard bacon. Stores in refrigerator in covered container up to 2 weeks

I'm surprised that you recommend this recipe for diabetics. At 3.9 grams of sugar per ounce, the sugar content is the same as a regular Coca-Cola! ! How will the recipe work with a sugar substitute?

that would be great with the previous bbq ribs. much better than high carb regular sauce. Maybe just leave in the bacon.
