Low-Carb Drop Biscuits with Sausage Gravy

By Copperchef

Enjoy this hearty favorite without all the usual carbs. Spicy sausage, flaky biscuits, and warm, seasoned gravy … it’s breakfast heaven!

Low-Carb Drop Biscuits with Sausage Gravy
  • 2 cups Carbquick Baking mix

  • 2/3 cup water

  • Baking Spray

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage

  • 4 to 6 tablespoons Carbquik baking mix

  • 1 1/2 cups half & half

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. In a bowl, add the dry ingredients and then start adding the water mixing as you go. Now keep mixing to bring the dough together. It should be a little sticky, but smooth and all the water is absorbed.

  3. With a pair of spoons, drop chunks of dough on to a shhet pan sprayed with baking spray and place in oven for 10-12 minutes

  4. In large skillet, over medium-high heat, cook and crumble sausage to lightly brown, removing fat from pan as it accumulates.

  5. Sprinkle Carbquik over sausage in skillet, stir to blend, add half & half to pan all at once. Cook, stirring constantly over medium-high heat until thickened and bubbly.

  6. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

  7. Serve over hot baked Carbquik® biscuits.

White flour, some mix that has all bad stuff in it? It's all bad for healthy people. For diabetics, it's poison! That what makes people sick: all these simple refined carbs. In addition to elevating glucose level, all grains have gluten that destroy one's intestines and give us leaky gut. All should be outlawed.

I agree with CountrySongbird, Carbquick is some nasty stuff! I have been low carbing for two years now and I paid around $10-11 for a box of it and ended up throwing most of it away!

It DOES look sooooo good, BUT have you ever tried Carbquick? AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL. With the awful taste and at $11 a box, it did cure me of wanting biscuits and gravy for a while!

Calorie counts please, also this would work great with rice flour for those who have a gluten problem.

Frankly, I don't trust pkgd mixes & I want to eliminate this hybrid wheat altogether.

I have a low carb mix from Atkins and it does contain wheat and soy. I use it 1/2 and 1/2 with regular unbleached flour. It cuts down a little on carbs and my husband will eat it. What good is making something and after you have used the pricey ingredients, no one will eat it? I guess moderation is our only hope. Frustrated.

Too expensive. Use your own home made biscuits with whole grain flour. I alwawys woinder why recipes want expensive ingredients when the average person can't afford them. Let's get back to basics and then people will get healthier. People don't know how to cook anymore without pre-packaged mixes, etc. Phyllis

I bake and cook everything from scratch. Was hoping this recipe didn't include packaged mixes. :(

Car quick is like bisquick. I ordered it through a website. I think it was called Netrition.com?
