Kwanzaa Fried Okra

This fried okra is a special treat that is great for any get together.

Kwanzaa Fried Okra
Ingredients
  • 1lb fresh okra

  • 1cup liquid egg substitute

  • 1/8tsp salt

  • 2tbsp cold water

  • 1cup cornmeal

  • 1/4cup canola oil

  • 1pinch salt (to taste-optional)

  • 1pinch black pepper (to taste-optional)

Directions
  1. Wash okra and cut the ends, then halve each piece.

  2. 2. Mix together egg substitute, salt, and water.

  3. 3. Dip okra into egg mixture then coat each piece in cornmeal.

  4. 4. Heat canola oil in skillet until hot

  5. 5. Fry okra about 10 to 15 minutes until it is brown then season with salt and pepper to taste.
