Apple Crumble

Ingredients
  • 1.5 Lbs Granny Smith Apples peeled & cored slice into wedges and place in a pot of water with a little salt in it to prevent apples from turning brown.

  • 6 OZ Flour

  • 3 OZ Blue Bonnet margarine kept chilled

  • 3 to 4 OZ Splenda sweetner

  • 2 to 3 TBS water

  • Pre heated oven @ 275 degrees

Directions
  1. Sift flour into medium sized mixing bowl

  2. Cut chilled margarine into thin slices and add to flour. (TIP:) run your hands from your wrists in cold water until well chilled. This makes rubbing fat into flour easier to do.)

  3. using fingertips mix margarine into flour so fat is almost invisible and flour looks like breadcrumbs.

  4. Add splenda to mix and lightly toss sugar into mix. you don't want sugar sticking to flour & fat mix.

  5. Drain water from apples & pack them into a 9 x 13 baking dish. sprinkle about 1 OZ Splenda over apples and add 3 TBS water to pan.

  6. Tip crumble mix on top of apples until apple pieces are covered.

  7. Using a fork rough-up crumble mix.

  8. Bake in pre-heated oven for 30 - 40 minutes.

  9. remove from oven, place on cooling rack.

  10. Serve warm or cold with 2 scoops lite vanilla ice-cream. NOTE: this re-warms easily and can be done 1 serving at a time. Depending on size of portion re-heat for 30 - 45 seconds. this will serve 6 - 8 people.
