I love cucumber salad but after cutting cumbers I let it sit in refrig for about 1/2 hr. then drain. two teaspoons vinegar. salt/pepper to taste and the topper is two tablespoons of sour cream. You will have to experiment to make it to your taste OH no sugar not even splendid.

Our local grocery store use to have a version of this, although I'm sure they used real sugar. I use to buy by the tub I swear. I forgot about it until now. Thanks!

I've been making this salad for years, you can also use low or no fat sour cream and I peel and de-seed the cucumbers, place in a colander over a bowl with a bit of salt,I let them sit in the fridge, then I squeeze the water from the cukes having a much more pleasant taste and for people who find cucumbers "come back on ya" de-seeding helps this.

I tried this recipe, and loved it. I like all kinds of salads but don't do mayonnaise…so if you know any mayonnaise free recipes keep them coming.

Good recipe! Love these for a picnic as they travel well. If you don't drain them you can even get your serving of vinegar…LOL

Leigh,
This has always been one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing with those that may not have tried it.

I grew up eating this salad. I love it. We used cider vinegar without the sweetener with just a bit of dill weed. It is a great summer salad
