I agree that I'd use Stevia for this, though I don't know how much to use. I generally cannot have chocolate due to caffeine, but I just recently bought raw cocoa powder. I also can't do cow dairy, but have powdered goat milk in the house. Sounds like this is a possibility and I can have cocoa after a long time of not having it! : )

I think for a chocolate fix this would be very good. I would encourage evey one to get away from any sweetner with Aspatame in it. Do your self a favor and read up on it. It is a bad player. It is made from wood alcohol, which in itself is a poison. It has caused many people many bad side effects and as diabetics we have enough problems with out having to deal with that too! I personally use stivia raw which I find in the local food store and is a very healthy sugar substitute.

I am pre-diabetic now and I want to get clearance from the diagnosis so I need to lower my A1c. My blood sugar level is at 81, which I am happy about. Thanks for your help.

My mother used to make a similiar recipe when I was growing up but w/powder sugar. I was just asking her about it this past winter for my eight year old. Thank you soooo much for the diabectic version for I have been diabetice for the past nine years and my lifestyle has changed quite drasticly since i was a little girl:) I looking forward to having cocoa with my daughter, Grace. And I'm sure she is too.

Cocoa of any description is not on my favorites list, but I know someone who will make quick work of thid recipe. I will be forwarding this to my daughter. That will be a nice warming relaxing after a Carolina Panthers game.
