Oven "Fry" Breading

  • This gives a crisp coating without added oil. If using a moist meat or veggie you may choose not to use the egg.

  • 1 egg beaten with 2 tsp water

  • 1/2 c grated parmesean cheese

  • 1/3 c flour *whole grain preferred

  • 2 Tbs wheat germ

  • 1 Tbs paprika (for color in end product)

  • 1 Tbs dried parsley

  • Sea Salt, pepper to taste

  • Optional

  • 1-2 tsp garlic powder *to taste

  • 1-2 tsp chili powder *to taste

  • 1-2 tsp dried dill *to taste

  • Any other favorite herb is good too

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Prepare a cookie sheet with cooking spray.

  3. This recipe is for meat, fish, potatoes cut into French fry strips, zucchini strips or what ever you want to oven fry.

  4. Combine all dry ingredients in a plastic bag.

  5. Dredge meat fish or potatoes in egg if used, then place in plastic bag with dry ingredients and shake until pieces are completley covered.

  6. Place in single layer on cookie sheet and place in preheated oven. Meat or fish may be turned once, usually potatoes or veggies do not require turning.

  7. Bake until crispy or done to your taste.

In Brooklyn Ny where I lived for 50 years they had fried veggies you could buy with a fish sandwich at he market. I miis this because they were deep fried. I think this is a great alternative for my fried veggies.
