Meat-Crust Pizza

By Avera

Meat lovers, this one’s for you! Imagine a pizza crust with meat in every bite – and more meat in the toppings.

  • —-CRUST—-

  • 3 lb ground beef

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 onion — finely chopped (or

  • substitute dried onion chips)

  • 2 cl garlic — finely chopped (or

  • substitute garlic powder)

  • 1 tbsp salt

  • 3/4 tsp black pepper

  • 3/4 tsp fennel seed

  • —-FILLING—-

  • 2 1/4 cups plum tomatoes — drained and chopped

  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper

  • 1 tsp oregano

  • 1 tsp basil

  • salt and pepper — to taste

  • —-TOPPING—-

  • 1/2 lb mozzarella cheese

  • sausage or pepperoni

  • oregano

  • 3 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

  1. Preheat oven to 375. Mix together crust ingredients. Separate into 2 pieces and flatten them onto cookie sheets. They will be about 1/2" thick when you are done. Bake for 30 min; pour off any fat that may have collected. Meanwhile, mix together the filling ingredients. Spread over both crusts. Put your toppping ingredients on and put back in the oven for about 15 min.

  2. I made this today and realized I had not tomatoes when the crust was in the oven. I made a quick sauce using tomato sauce, basil, oregano, seasoned salt, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. I didn't simmer it long and didn't use very much and the pizza was better than the above recipe. I don't use commercial sauce because they put lots of corn syrup in. But tomato sauce from a can has only 4g in 1/4c. Enjoy.

How big is 1 serving, because that's a LOT of calories, fat & cholesterol not to mention aTON OF SODIUM!!! Although it sounds very tasty, this cannot be the least bit healthy!!!!

my gramma gave me this recipe when I was a kid over 30 years ago - we call it Meatza - cause it is pizza with a meat crust - I have LOVED it for that long. I was actually going to post this recipe on here because I love it so much, I am very glad to see someone already has. If you like pizza but can't eat the crust, try this, I guarantee you'll love it too!
