Pulled Pork Sandwiches

These savory pulled pork sandwiches will be the hit of the BBQ!

Pulled Pork Sandwiches
  • 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 1 1/2 tsp pepper, black ground

  • 1 tsp celery salt

  • 3 lb pork, boneless shoulder roast

  • 2 large onions

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 2 cups broccoli slaw mix

  • 1 cup dressing, low-fat mayonnaise-based

  • 16 hamburger buns, whole-wheat

  1. In a small bowl, stir together garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and celery salt. Trim fat from meat. Sprinkle pepper mixture evenly over meat; rub in with your fingers. If necessary, cut meat to fit into a 3 1/2- or 4-quart slow cooker.Place onion in the bottom of a 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker.

  2. Add meat. Pour the water over meat.Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 8 to 10 hours or on high-heat setting for 4 to 5 hours.

  3. Remove meat and onions from cooker to a cutting board; discard cooking liquid. Using two forks, pull meat apart into shreds.

  4. Tote meat in slow cooker. Tote broccoli and mayonnaise dressing in an insulated container with ice packs.

  5. To serve, in a small bowl, combine shredded broccoli and 1/4 cup of the mayonnaise dressing. Spread bottoms of the buns with the remaining mayonnaise dressing. Place meat mixture on bottoms of buns. Top with shredded broccoli mixture; replace tops of buns.

Again, about the National Cereal sorry Day… from the article mentioned below:

"1 Bowl of Oatmeal (equivalent grams of carbs to 2 slices wheat toast)
45 minutes after consumption: Blood sugar raised from 86 fasting level to 112."

If one wishes to "support the food industry" at his own health's expense, it's your choice.

Buns? Whole-wheat or not, all bad for healthy people and especially for diabetics!

@pipefitr2 ur pulled pork recipe sounds so good it is making my mouth water…does it have to be grilled/barbecued? can it jus go into tha crock pot or can i put it in tha oven for 2hrs b4 tha crock pot?

I have an idea that takes the pulled pork to the next level, try using McCormicks pulled pork seasoning in the envelopes, use part of one and use it for a rub on the pork shoulder and then refrigerate the shoulder for about twenty four hours then put it on a grill or barbecue for about two hours then finish off in a crock pot using the rest of the seasonings in a ketchup,vinegar,brown sugar mix in with the pork roast for about four to five hours, my family loves it say it as good as Arbys sandwiches

I avoid the sauce later. While slow cooking the pork I added 1 tablespoon of liquid smoke to the water. Makes it taste like it had been smoked all day.

Could you please explain your use of "tote"? You used it twice in your cooking instructions and I can't figure out how to carry meat in a slow cooker or carry broccoli and mayonnaise dressing? I think you mistyped something somewhere. The receipe looks and sounds delicious. Thank You

Thanks, this recipe sounds really good to me too! I think I may make it this weekend! I will cut my Carbs by just using half the bun.
