Tandoori Shrimp

  • 3 tbsp fresh ginger root , peeled and coarsely chopped

  • 1 medium onions , coarsely chopped

  • 6 medium garlic cloves

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • 1 1/4 cup lowfat plain yogurt

  • 2 tbsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp ground turmeric

  • 2 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp ground cayenne (red pepper)

  • 1 1/2 lb large raw shrimp , shelled and deveined

  1. In a blender or food processor, pulse ginger, onion, garlic, olive oil, yogurt, cumin, turmeric, paprika, and cayenne until well combined. Pour the marinade in a bowl and place shrimp in marinade. Cover and chill for 4 hours.

  2. Preheat a grill or grill pan. Lay shrimp on grill and cook 3 minutes.

This is a great marinade! I used it on fish for my family and the flavor of it was so good, that after I used my blender to make the marinade, I used the reminent to add some kick to my hummus. Ohhhh, so yummy

How unusual, the yougurt as a marinade. I am anxious to try this one out. Good thing we can grill 12 months a year here.
