Hot or Cold Tuna Snacks


  • 3 snacks per serving size

  • 4 ounces light cream cheese

  • 1 can(6ounces) water-packed chunk light tuna, well drained

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

  • 1 tablespoon minced onion

  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano

  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

  • 18 (1/2-inch) thick slices seedless cucumber

  • 18 capers for garnish (optional)

  1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees f.

  2. Combine cream cheese, tuna, parsley, onion, oregano, and pepper in a medium bowl. Mix well.

  3. Mound about 1 tablespoon of the tuna mixture to completely cover top of each cucumber slice. using the inside edge of a teaspoon to shape mixture. If serving cold, garnish each with a caper, if desired.

  4. To serve hot; Spray baking sheet with cooking spray. Place canapes on sheet and bake at 500 degrees until tops are puffed and brown, about 10 minutes

  5. Tip::: Capers are the flower buds of a bush native to the Mediterranean and parts of India. The buds are picked, sun=dried, then pickled. Capers should be rinsed before using to remove excess salt.

always looking for different ways to fix tuna. i love tuna. this sounds really good and different

This sounds like a good snack to take to a party where one has to bring something. It is fixed so you could do them hot for winter and cold for summers. They would look good on a table also.
