  • 1/2 head cabbage

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt

  1. Slice the cabbage into strips about 1/4” wide, so they resemble fettuccini noodles. Individually separate the pieces of cabbage so that they are not in clumps or chunks. This will allow the water and steam to cook them evenly.

  2. Place the sliced cabbage pieces into a saucepan (or steamer) with about 1/2” of water. Cover the pan with a tightly fitting lid, and cook the cabbage on medium heat for about 8 minutes or until it is tender. The cabbage needs to be slightly on the soft side-not the normal crisp-tender you would want from a fresh vegetable-in order to achieve the ”noodle” feel.

  3. Drain the cabbage thoroughly. Place the butter into the bottom of a serving bowl and sprinkle the lemon pepper and seasoning salt over it. Add the cabbage, and mix it thoroughly with the butter and seasonings.

I have a head of cabbage sitting in my fridge ready to be made into soup since the weather turned wet and chilly again. This is perfect-thanks!

I do something similar to this but actually cook the cabbage with sliced onion in 1/4 cup of no salt added beef broth (or use my own) and butter. It is one of my favorite winter meals. You can add cooked ground beef to the portions for the rest of the familly or add ground turkey for a whole meal for you.

I usually do this but never made it using lemon pepper. It is in my spice rack so next time I will make it this way. Thanks…Debe

Great recipe! Not only do I adore the name of it, but I sure do love cabbage. I might even use something besides the butter to make the calories even lower.

I just had to stop in because of the title! I love it. Cabbage is a great veggie, and I will give this a whirl. I know my mom will love it for sure.
